  1. According to Dusty Groove it comes in a 5" gatefold paper sleeve, so I guess it's the JRVG reissue; TOCJs don't have mini-LP cardboard sleeves.

I've just been listening to: Conrad Bauer/Peter Kowald/Günter Sommer - Between Heaven and Earth - Intakt This is a great album, another one with the amazing Peter Kowald. The first track was the only one that didn't do it for me, with its - to my ears - weird combination of sounds. On to Barry Guy/Marilyn Crispell/Paul Lytton - Ithaca, which got the from some posters here...
  3. Like Andrew Hill's Passing Ships, the Live at the Lighthouse recordings were not originally released in the 1500-4000-4100 series Wolff was asking about.
  4. JRVG = Japanese 24-bit Rudy Van Gelder remastered Blue Note CDs (Toshiba TOCJ-9XXX series) TOCJ = Japanese 16-bit or 20-bit non-Rudy Van Gelder remastered "Blue Note Works" CDs (Toshiba TOCJ-1500, TOCJ-1600, TOCJ-4000, TOCJ-4100, TOCJ-4200, TOCJ-4300 series) TOCJ24 = new Japanese 24-bit non-Rudy Van Gelder remastered Blue Note CDs (Toshiba TOCJ-64XX) TOCJ: Toshiba CD Jazz
  5. Mundo's prices are considerably higher than Hiroshi's, and their shipping rates are much higher too. Mundo's exchange rate is 1,000 yen = $1, while the current rate is 1,000 yen = $0.93. Mundo's JRVG price is $25, Hiroshi's price of 2,500 yen equals about $23.30 at the moment.
  6. I just got the Steve Hoffman remastered Full House, and to my ears it's even better than the latest K2 XRCD version, which I'm now selling on eBay (a little pimping will do no harm, I guess )
  7. That's right, I read somewhere that he did some Cliff Richard recordings in London in the late 1950s or early 1960s - pre-Beatles, that is.
  8. Here's a thread about Hiroshi Tanno.
  9. Thanks Michael. At first glance the only Blue Note recording on that list that was remastered by Addey is Andrew Hill's Passing Ships, an album that was not released until 2003.
  10. If I remember correctly Addey was one of the engineers of the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
  11. Found a couple of pictures with Addey on the net.
  12. Some people seem to think that Malcolm Addey is an EMI/Blue Note employee; he's not, and as far as I know he did not remaster any Blue Note recordings in the 1500, 1600, 4000 and 4100 series. He did however remaster recordings that are now owned by EMI/Blue Note, like, for instance, the Randy Weston Mosaic. Addey has his own studio in New York City. (Edited to specify which Blue Note recordings I was referring to)
  13. The answer is: none.

In my experience Amazon Germany's prices are usually lower.
  15. Why don't you try Hiroshi Tanno: hiroshi@earlyrecords.com. He may still be able to get them for you. His JRVG price is 2,500 yen (€18.50 / $23.30 / £12.75 at today's exchange rates), and his shipping rates are quite moderate compared to what HMV Japan, Tower Japan or Amazon Japan are charging. Hiroshi can supply all currently available Japanese jazz CDs and LPs, whether they're listed on his website or not. He takes PayPal, but no credit cards. Good luck. Edit: JRVGs always have TOCJ-9XXX CD numbers.
  16. Happy birthday.

Funny, I like most Crispell sessions you guys hate... Haven't heard Ithaca yet, though. What is it you don't like, a certain kind of lyricism she seems to have adopted lately?
  18. The search and reply features are very slow at the moment.
  19. It finally arrived today, with greetings from Dutch Customs - had to pay €14 ($17.50) tax... Can I ask how much you were charged for shipping? CDUniverse charged me $15.99 shipping, so the set cost me a total of ($91 + $16 + $17.50 =) $124.50... Sigh...
  20. Wasn't the TOCJ dubbed from vinyl? If I remember correctly, there was a thread or a series of posts about this on this forum some time ago.

Have fun! The usual JC suspects keep popping up on Bagatellen.
