  1. It's obviously "Louie Louie".
  2. 1987 Chicago Cubs. I was ten.
  3. Yeah, I believe that's somewhere on Cosmic Tones, right? Music & Dance is a really fine record. Yes to Cosmic Tones For Mental Therapy.
  4. Yes. Today's Active Topics, and View New Content. Welcome!
  5. music is about living and right now you are doing some powerful improvising. that right there aloc is potent. Shawn, I enjoy reading you here and Facebook and have picked up on your situation through comments. I know you will make it. I know you can. We are here.
  6. I know there's another thread somewhere where Dan had challenged Nadal's tennis. I seem to recall you thinking he was a flash in the pan or one trick pony. Clay is obviously his surface with something like 18 losses out of 1,000 matches, but I think he has proved to the rest of us that he is now a historical figure in the the tennis world. I know that you watch a lot of tennis and it baffled me early on when you didn't see him as an up and coming world class player. Surely you have changed your opinion? And I just want to say that this post is not an attack on you Dan. Seems that needs to be said around here these days! Just wondering when/if your opinion of Rafael Nadal has changed over the years.
  7. I love this. I am in KC once a year and my schedule hasn't had much flexibility in five years. One of these days!
  8. I think college football is at it's tipping point, or damned close. It has blown up beyond belief. Everyone gets a piece except for the players. You know what I meant... students. College orchestra/choir/etc. not so much. What's the actual comparison there? AV Technicians? Am I missing it?
  9. This great minds thing seems to be a recurring topic with Bev. Can we all just agree that Bev is also a great mind and then continue typing into a prompt? No offense Bev. I just recall reading this line of thought from you a time or two. What gives?
  10. I don't know much about this music, so I hope it's ok if I say that I really really really really really really enjoy listening to the Gould solo piano recordings that have been mentioned here and elsewhere. I would not have known about them had I not read about them on this board. I would use adjectives with positive connotation to describe the music.
  11. I definitely understand where you are coming from. I realize that these are all personal opinions, and I've grown to "know" these personalities from reading here and bnbb. thanks Bev!
  12. Maybe for you. I have very little knowledge of the music of Mozart and appreciate the idea that this music is "word of mouth" in that you have sheet music and you have other people's interpretations of the sheet music. I suppose this goes for most classical music and I hadn't actually considered it until this thread. My exposure to classical music has been largely public radio, with a few LPs and CDs in the collection. I don't often *think* about classical music, but I have been thinking about this thread these past few days.
  13. Have any of you heard Fight The Big Bull with Steven Bernstein "All Is Gladness In The Kingdom" on Clean Feed? Although it does not fit the description based on most of the big bands listed here, I think it is worth a mention.
  14. I'm learning. Please don't let a smug comment deter the conversation. Thanks.
  15. I grind beans every morning and brew in a French press. I drink black. I like all kinds of tea. Sometimes I brew in a clay pot. Sometimes I steep in the glass. Iced tea is great. Usually half unsweetened mixed with half sweet tea does the job. A jar of sun tea takes me back to childhood in a sip. I'm not brand or roast or region loyal. Like noj, I enjoy variety. Neither tea nor coffee, and I'm not a soft drink fan at all, but has anyone had MaIne Root Ginger Ale? Fantastic.
  16. I know it is not what this thread is about, but Antibes has long been a favorite. Time to pull it down again. An old friend of mine just loved this disc! !
  17. Hunt coons? I'm a Southerner myself and that's an odd choice of words. Possum maybe.
  18. I'm not particular.
