  1. What? These are generational/cultural. Fourth quarter twentieth century worldwide usage in my traveling experience. Sweet!
  2. Uh, yeah, no. Not so much. So, I was reading one of my favorite websites the other day...
  3. What are you doing with your back-up copies?
  4. Loving The Debut box... thanks for this thread guys!
  5. Thanks for sharing your memories Conrad. Looks like a good soul.
  6. Some other time Jim? It's been about ten years! Bev, he's more of a dick in person. Without actually meeting the guy, you've truly pegged him. Most impressive. He don't need nobody stickin up for him. This ain't necessary, but hell. Hope I said that right.
  7. Is it really so tense in the USA? Yes, though relative to your role in this thread, no. I haven't been reading the board enough recently to know what has led up to this, but wow. So where's the party?
  8. Thanks everyone! It has been a wonderful year. My daughter was born in August, I ran a half marathon in March, and I was contacted by an art gallery to be a part of a curated series on contemporary rock posters. Here's to the second decade of the twenty-first century!
  9. Happy Birthday Joe! I know I've said it elsewhere, but thought I'd record my well-wishes here as well!
  10. There is no possible way that they can answer all of the questions that I have in three episodes. Still, as long as they resolve the over-arching plot that they have finally returned to, I am satisfied. I suppose not fully explaining EVERYTHING is what truly captures the imagination of fans.

    Mal Waldron

To me, Waldron is insistent. His music demands time not be measured by anything other than his hands while he plays. There is no middle ground. Either you are with him, or he is against you, but it is your choice. I'm very much looking forward to revisiting a few hours of his duets with Steve Lacy next week.
  12. Adorable. Congrats!
  13. Maybe I would like it better with the reverb. I've had the CD for a long while and rarely reach for it. I did listen to it about a month ago. I don't know. Also listened to Freddie Hubbard The Body and The Soul that morning!
  14. Yes, I agree about José James. I do think many here would like The Dreamer, and possibly his stuff with Timo Lassy. He's got serious control, and, I think, is a vocalist whose voice should grow stronger with age. Here's a link to three tracks that Flying Lotus/Warp is sharing that will not be on Cosmogramma. http://warp.net/records/flying-lotus/new-album-cosmogramma-released-3rd-4th-may-2010
  15. Rooster. How long have you been sitting on the trainwreck?! It was your enthusiasm for Natural Essence that made me track down a Japanese import! !!!
  16. Hey Rod. Just checking in to see if you have listened to that Gaslamp much? Also, if you don't know already, Jose James' album BLACKMAGIC features a few tracks collab with Flying Lotus. I think EVERYONE on this board would dig his album THE DREAMER. Jazz jazz.
  17. go analog. digital can be so fatiguing.
  18. Lockin' Horns is BAAAAAD! Von's doing a lot more than "joining in"!
  19. The question was how to isolate the leslie speaker sound, not eliminate the leslie speaker sound.
  20. Lots of EPs and collaborations. He just did an album with a vocalist called gonjasufi. His new album comes out in May. A friend, who is part of this world, sent me a few tracks last month. Some good stuff here, since you are a fan. http://www.brainfeedersite.com/ Check out that Gaslamp Killer mix.

  22. had to turn it off immediately. heavy-handed. while i have tried listening to her solo works, i definitely prefer her with other musicians. this is a good one.
