  1. I just worry whether or not it is art.
  2. Certainly a low point in this guy's day.
  3. I never really thought of it as collecting. Ever since I realized how much jazz and improvised music did for me, I've been on a constant search for something new, or something different. This seems more and more difficult to find now than it did in the first few years of discovery. I can only imagine how difficult it has become for many of you who have been exploring for so much longer than me. Buying a new stereo amplifier has been a very revealing experience. I find myself pulling out my favorite albums and listening to them with a new ear. The other albums just sit on the shelf, as they have for most of the time that I've owned them. May be time to start weeding.
  4. Chuck I like this idea. What was the concept, from your perspective? I'm imagining standards approached similar to the Marsh/Mitchell duets? The idea was for Warne to play whatever he wanted. that makes good sense.

  6. Wow! This is great news! I was fortunate enough to hear Sam Rivers play about ten years ago. He shattered expectations. I drove six hours to hear him.
  7. it isn't braille.
  8. Kenneth Williams was one of the great British comedians of the sixties/seventies - the only one who was in EVERY Carry-on film. And the Decca series "The world of" ran for hundreds of albums, including many classical reissues under the generic title "The world of the great classics". So it WAS a big fucking deal! MG This is not the first time I have screwed up with album covers of British artists. I need to research these artists before I post. evils of the weed
  9. People prefer distortion.
  10. I haven't seen him in about ten years now, but he was very much alive when I met him and heard him play. Made me feel like I was not living anywhere near my full potential.
  11. Im not sure I've ever gotten a facebook related email, except to confirm membership. You need to change your settings Chris. This doesn't sound right. I'm pretty sure that I could disappear for months and only folks that HAVE my email address could contact me.
  12. What? These are generational/cultural. Fourth quarter twentieth century worldwide usage in my traveling experience. Sweet!
  13. Uh, yeah, no. Not so much. So, I was reading one of my favorite websites the other day...
  14. What are you doing with your back-up copies?
  15. Loving The Debut box... thanks for this thread guys!
  16. Thanks for sharing your memories Conrad. Looks like a good soul.
  17. Some other time Jim? It's been about ten years! Bev, he's more of a dick in person. Without actually meeting the guy, you've truly pegged him. Most impressive. He don't need nobody stickin up for him. This ain't necessary, but hell. Hope I said that right.
  18. Is it really so tense in the USA? Yes, though relative to your role in this thread, no. I haven't been reading the board enough recently to know what has led up to this, but wow. So where's the party?
  19. Thanks everyone! It has been a wonderful year. My daughter was born in August, I ran a half marathon in March, and I was contacted by an art gallery to be a part of a curated series on contemporary rock posters. Here's to the second decade of the twenty-first century!
  20. Happy Birthday Joe! I know I've said it elsewhere, but thought I'd record my well-wishes here as well!
  21. There is no possible way that they can answer all of the questions that I have in three episodes. Still, as long as they resolve the over-arching plot that they have finally returned to, I am satisfied. I suppose not fully explaining EVERYTHING is what truly captures the imagination of fans.
