Chico O'Farill NINE FLAGS (Impulse AS-9135) Nothing like I expected, but spectacular nonetheless!

Thanks, got it, but is the order any different now? Becuase I was just going to use what I had, delete all the tags, and hit it fresh. Trust me, w/my memory these days, it ain't no big deal... Nope, no difference. Delete and enjoy! I've already forgotten what I saw!

Egad, did time get away from me this week (thank you, audit.... grrrr). I've dl'd the folder, changed all the mp3 tags, re-uploaded, and the link will be sent via PM to all participants. I tested these on RealPlayer and Windows MediaPlayer and got the same results (although, for some reason, Windows MP displays a picture of a canyon for some tracks. No idea why.) JSngry, your link will be e-mailed to you.

Thank you, Jeff! Feel free to contact me (and/or mikeweil, the BFT Godfatha) if you have any questions or need any assistance. I'll still be happy to help with uploads & downloads.

I can do it! Thom, please send me the link! If y'all go back and look at Hot Ptah's BFT (if you still have it), you'll note that the track titles were intentionally placed by me, in a nod to an Ornette Coleman album. I promise I won't pull that stunt on Thom's BFT. And, for the record, me seeing the answers isn't gonna affect my answers one whit!

I have officially run out of time to manage the Blindfold Tests, and am looking for someone to whom I can abdicate the throne. It's clean.

Me too! Is it May already? :blush2:

Actress Lynne Redgrave has passed away
Big Al replied to sonnymax's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I knew she was a fantastic actress, but my fondest memory is when she did "House Calls" with Wayne Rogers. RIP -
Yes, let's just lock everything up

RIP Gene Lees (1928-2010)
Big Al replied to Fer Urbina's topic in Jazz In Print - Periodicals, Books, Newspapers, etc...
I remember thinking that the very first time I heard that song. That was my intro to Gene Lees. I always enjoyed his lyrics for Jobim; always felt like he captured the spirit of the song, if not being technically correct (always liked the "and now all I have developed is a complex" line in order to rhyme with "Rolliflex"). I guess I need to read some of his books, because I've never seen some of the more inflammatory comments mentioned here. But then, all I've ever read are his liner notes, which I really enjoyed (particularly his notes for various Paul Desmond albums). RIP indeed. -
WDCB on the air (or on the stream in my case)

It's never too early to give up on the Rangers. Especially since it appears they have yet to show up this season....

Wow! I gotta find this SAY IT LOUD album, cuz this version ain't from that record, but after looking at the lineup you listed, all I can say is..... WOW!!! THAT'S the version I was thinking of when I was making my guesses! I mean, I knew it was wrong & all, but at least now I know *why*!!!

Probably a student-DJ who wishes he was spinning Owl City or something similar, picked up the wrong CD and did the usual deadpan reading that most student-DJs give to these kinds of things. I can just imagine his FaceBook status at that moment: "spinning borrrinnngggg jazz music for school. txt it ppl."

I don't if any of y'all have ever had the pleasure of listening to a BFT with its creator, but I can now say that I have. MG & me had a blast (no, a FANTASTIC time) last night, driving thru downtown Ft. Worth listening, dissecting, and discussing the various tracks on his BFT. MY only regret is that I didn't have some sort of recording device to pick up the discussion. Not that we said anything earth-shattering, but it was fun and I, at least, would've enjoyed letting the rest of the BFT community hear the nattering of two jazzheads who apparently have strikingly similar spouses! A nice wrap-up to the weekend: roaming the Stockyard section of Ft. Worth and stuffing ourselves with Mexican food, despite weather that was more akin to London than Ft. Worth! Alas, I have no more answers than when I started the evening! But I do have a groovy t-shirt from Spillers Records, the world's oldest record store! I shall wear it with pride and, with any luck, get my picture in next year's Spillers calendar wearing it!

Brad, that's definitely me. Since getting the Verve 2-LP Roy & Diz reissue, I've been debating endlessly in which order to place the songs on the CDR I'm making! I know this is all on the Eldridge Mosaic, but is it not in the same running order as the CD? Brownie, thanks for the link. I did find that last night, and forgot to take it out of my list above.

I have looked all over Google and elsewhere trying to find the original track lineups for the Roy Eldridge/Dizzy Gillespie session of October 29, 1954. The CD issue (which I no longer own) is just all the tracks in their recorded order. Does the 2-LP "Diz and Roy" (Verve VE-2-2524) present the tracks in any of the original LP running orders? Can anyone tell me what the running order was for each of the following: Roy and Diz (Clef MGC 641) Roy And Diz, Vol. 2 (Clef MGC 671) Trumpet Battle (Clef MGC 730) The Trumpet Kings (Clef MGC 731) I thank you, and my obsessiveness thanks you.

That's alright: I'll be seeing him next week, and since I'm BFT Grand Poohbear, I think I outrank him and therefore shall attempt to surreptiously procure answers from him and then post them here as if they were my own. If that doesn't work, I'll take him out, get him drunk, and con the answers out of him. When that fails miserably (and after I've sobered up), I am not above bribery and other unethical methods. Of course, if his position as Moderator outranks my positions as BFT Grand Martial, and this post is gone in the next fe

Good heavens! That means this thread is older than all three of Jim's kids!

Rangers lose 3-1 after carrying a shutout into the 9th, only to have Francisco give up three runs in the top of the ninth. New season, same old bullshit.....
