  1. One can speak with excellent grammar, syntax and enunciation without saying anything.
  2. I'm glad that you enjoy his music, really I am. Please accept the fact that his playing leaves some of us cold and his music politics have been cause for feelings of resentment.
  3. To my ears, what you call "emotional screaming" is music that is much more than what Wynton and his ilk have to offer.
  4. I'll watch the Yankees with my Dad and record the debate to watch later. Football doesn't interest me.
  5. A tad smooth, peppy, and neat for my tastes. I like some grit in my cup o' jazz.
  6. Or, I respectfully suggest that people who find no value in such discussions avoid them altogether. Try that.
  7. Seems to fit - can't you guys get over this shit? Q I don't think there's anything for us to "get over". A lot of us don't like Wynton, what he's done, and what he stands for. Perhaps it's Wynton's fans who need to "get over" the fact that not everyone shares their adulation for the man.
  8. Just to be clear, this recording was originally released on Ornette Coleman's label, Artist House (AH 6).
  9. Good for you. Perseverance pays off!
  10. Actually, that 2cd set is missing three tracks from Montage, specifically: Johnny Mehegan (p) NYC, September 20, 1955 Crazy Rhythm I'll Take Romance Donald Byrd (tp) Frank Foster (ts) Hank Jones (p) Paul Chambers (b) Kenny Clarke (d) NYC, September 29, 1955 If I Love Again
  11. Wynton is live right now . . . but there's always hope that tomorrow . . .
  12. "Prayer. The last refuge of a scoundrel." - Lisa Simpson
  13. Just what the world needs, another singer with note-perfect technique and no emotion.
  14. The several ZYX-issued CDs I bought a few years ago all sounded like crap. They weren't CDrs, just crap.
  15. Michael Jackson tunes. Very creepy.
  16. As Chuck's lawyer, I must protest! Now I may be just be a simple country Hyper-Chicken, but I know when we're finger licked. Ba-GAWK!
  17. That's good to know. Spambot I can deal with. Just as long as it's not hypnotoad!!!
  18. Actually, you've go me worried Chuck. Are you apologizing for something you've done, or something you're going to do? Whatever is might be, people care about you. Let us know if we can help.
  19. Didn't think duos were all that rare pre-1972. Rubbish (re: the ECM claim). There were many duos prior to the 70s. I'm quite familiar with various guitar duos like George Barnes & Carl Kress, Chuck Wayne & Joe Puma, Eddie Lang & Carl Kress, Eddie Lang & Lonnie Johnson, Dick McDonough & Carl Kress, George Barnes & Bucky Pizzarelli, etc. Check out this live performance by Jim Hall & Barney Kessel: Then there are the lovely duo recordings by Bill Evans & Jim Hall. And let us not forget this great one:
  20. Anybody know what kind of outfit the London-based Fivefour Records is?
  21. In hindsight, I should have been more clear in my post, saying that this was a list of titles that Xanadu issued on CD. Yes, there were a few reissued on Prevue, and some others in Japan.
  22. There are strict laws governing the proper of medical waste. Your dentist was legally and ethically bound to do what he did. You should feel good about the fact that he acted in a professional manner.
  23. I can't see how complaining about being blocked constitutes a "personal attack". As far as wanting things to be kept private, why on earth would you create a thread about this matter? I had no idea the exchange you speak of had taken place, but now I do, and so does everybody else. From what I've observed, you've been increasingly reactive and sometimes provocative over the past several weeks. You have every right to post whatever you want, but don't be surprised or claim to be offended when others respond. And if you think people's comments are "off topic", you may want to look at how you call attention to yourself, rather than the message you're trying to communicate.
  24. AFAIK, none of the Xanadu titles you're looking for made it CD. Here's a list of CDs that were offered by that label: Barry Harris - The Bird Of Red And Gold Al Cohn & Dexter Gordon - True Blue Bud Powell - Bud In Paris Art Pepper & Shorty Rogers - Popo Wynton Kelly - Blues On Purpose Red Garland - Keystones! Georgie Auld - Homage Joe Farrell - Skateboard Park Jimmy Raney & Sonny Clark - Together Dolo Coker - California Hard Charles McPherson - Beautiful! (Various) - International Jam Sessions JR Monterose - Straight Ahead Al Cohn & Jimmy Rowles - Heavy Love Kenny Dorham - The Kenny Dorham Memorial Album Sam Most - Mostly Flute Kenny Drew - Home Is Where The Soul Is
