  1. You're not alone ...
  2. You mean Clifford Jordan, of course?
  3. I have a copy of Randy Weston's LP on his own Bakton label, the one later reissued on Atlantic - dunno whether that's valuable. I have quite a few rare artist-produced LPs: Walter Zuber Armstrong Marc Levin Jane Ira Bloom Lloyd McNeill
  4. The only musician I ever asked for an autograph was Cedar Walton - he signed the Eastern Rebellion LP I had just bought. Since he is the jazz player I have seen live the most often, it fits. Of course I still have it ...
  5. At least it was for a good thing - I wonder what Maceo was thinkin' ...
  6. Oh ...... sad news, although it is not surprising. A thousand thanks for the many hours of of pleasure with your music, Mr. Moody ...
  7. Get well soon, Aretha - you're still the Queen!
  8. A copy of this was on my doorstep at noon - seems to be nicely done, on first sight.
  9. Two sellers are offering it at a great price. Unfortunately, they don't ship to the U.S. They don't ship to Germany either!
  10. Was this a gatefold cover with revealing pics on the inner sides?
  11. I always thought this type of design came from moments lacking true inspiration
  12. I have this, but it's awhile since I have listened to it. I remember I liked it quite a bit (and kept it) as it's a free jazz album, but not as wild as some other recordings, rather a chamber-jazz approach with its exciting and dense moments, but at times very subtle and never lost in screaming. Players are Marc Levin on wood flutes and some smaller cornet-type brass instrument, South African trombonist Jonas Gwanga, Calo Scott on cello (who is magnificent as always), Cecil McBee on bass and Frank Clayton on drums. Bill Dixon (Levin's teacher) produced the album. Jerry Newman (!) was the recording engineer. Levin is a rather obscure figure - he recorded another self produced album in the 1970's (again with Scott and Clayton and the drummer's wife at the time, Jay Clayton), and one for ENJA after he moved to Europe, but I haven't heard of him since. I bought the albums for Scott, mainly.
  13. Not really having trouble finding them, but: would be nice to have them listed in one place, and, you'd be amazed at how many of 'em already exist! ... and how crazy some of the topics are ...
  14. Sammy Davis with a tooth ache?
  15. Certainly would love to see it. Seems there is a graphic novel, too: Seems there's no DVD yet. Shown in the UK only so far, it seems: http://chicoandrita.co.uk/
  16. I'm still disappointed that Warner Bros. dropped their plans to do a comprehensive box-set of the Mwandishi years with unreleased and unedited material. A Headhunters set would be nice, too ... I'd certainly get a copy. But I don't want to wait until Herbie has passed ... those Miles sets all came posthumously.

The DVD currently available is French only, without any subtitles in other languages .... ... and it's rather expensive.
  18. Perhaps a post with links to all the threads pinned on top would do - I considered this, but just don't have the time.

Wow - I didn't know that. Seems I should try and find a copy of the movie ...
  20. Sigh!!!
  21. Italian singer Gegé with Jon Hendricks guesting, with lyrics - I included this on my first blindfold test.
  22. But of course!
  23. When I type "Chris Albertson" into the Facebook searchbox, I only get Chris' entry from Wkipedia, but no option to ask for friendship etc. - if he still gets e-mails I would smell some hack. I hate to see someone adress Chris the way BW has done - I see BW's point and all, but asking Chris to grow up is not nice. Please, gentlemen ... That said, I never had any trouble with Facebook, but I think twice before I do anything there ...
  24. My thoughts exactly - Fantasy was totally ignorant about that one, as well as some other fine dates.
