  1. the 2021 reissue
  2. Wow! Where did that come from, just found it on Spotify. Thanks for posting David 'Fathead' Newman - Davey Blue [HighNote] mentioned on another thread recently, lovely album
  3. And there I was all ready to give the album a chance to convince me of Adams/Pullen (I know, I know....) and you go and mention Ken "Hushpuppies" Clarke
  4. I think VDS is great too. The flower market was crazy 30 years ago when I stopped going because it was too busy Doing the search again you get these - Kristina (used to be in Dalston I remember), Tome, Lion Coffee & Records, Jelly Records, Lobster Records, Vinyl Pimp. I guess a couple could be labels thinking about it now And moving slightly beyond the initial search map there's Harry's Record Shop, Play Vinyl, Love Vinyl, Stranger Than Paradise. I know the last two
  5. Mr Nessa tells that story somewhere on the board, I'm sure. He ended up with a consignment to sell as payment iirc
  6. sounds like the strongest J Jazz series issue for a while
  7. That is keen pricing indeed, I need to make a trip. When I did a Google Maps search there were something like 5 other record shops highlighted on the same page. Hackney is vinyl heaven these days. Must apply for my hipster passport...
  8. That's interesting, thanks. They've been adding tons of stuff if their Instagram posts are anything to go by. Shop looks fantastically haphazard too, like ten years ago perhaps. That's a nice Lindberg
  9. Wow! Where did that come from, just found it on Spotify. Thanks for posting
  10. Great read, thanks for posting. The heartbeat thing reminds me of Milford Graves
  11. Couple of these have cropped up in London in the last few years. Also it's noticeable that once used-only shops are now stocking new releases
  12. But they're such thoughtful and constructive sighs...
  13. Thanks, I'll have a look around
  14. That's good to hear. I only have this and two with Satoh, 'Canto Of Aries' and one I can't recall its title. I'm a bit wary of a MOR tendency that I have no evidence to support. Any pointers for others? Now onto this recent discovery. Some Billy Harper I didn't know about. One of the weirdest band names ever New York Saxophone Madness - Danjiri [CAC, Japan 1985]
  15. Toshiyuki Miyama & The New Herd - Orchestrane, New Herd Plays John Coltrane [Denon, Japan 1977]
  16. Just to say I think it's a very strong recording indeed (I've been lucky to have it for a week or so). Anyone who's enjoyed the previous Ensemble albums will doubtless enjoy this. Those new to Alex's music, this is a great place to start. Rich and involving music, that often belies its complexity with immediacy of impact, played by some terrific musicians. (As for the marketing team...good job AH is on the case ) I meant to follow that up and forgot, thanks for the reminder. Great line-up
  17. I was the target audience for 'Bat Out Of Hell' as a 16yo. Still vividly remember an amazing OGWT performance with Ellen Foley, I think. Can't argue with that voice and stagecraft. He'll be remembered, that's certain
  18. Fabulous, thank you very much
  19. Paul Bley - Blood [Fontana, Netherlands 1966]
  20. I think I've just fallen back into the black hole that is the Bley trio discography as I didn't know about the two Savoy LPs released in the 80s. @colinmce, can you help me out as you've done all the hard work, what's the relationship between the Savoy 80s LPs 'Floater' and 'Syndrome' (or the CD Floater Syndrome which compiles them] with 'Footloose' from 1963? Do the two 80s LPs cover all the 1963 issue plus some from the same session? If so, are the tracks that are extra to 'Footloose' available elsewhere before the 80s releases?
  21. I love that track, kind of wish I didn't know there was an alternate. Is it worth the purchase of a whole album I ask myself
  22. Paul Bley - In Haarlem, Blood [International Polydor Production, Germany 1967]
  23. that's a pretty heavy line up
