Shouldn't the thread title be changed to Sun Ra Arkestra's 'Swirling'? Allen may be the leader but it's certainly not credited to him anywhere else I've seen.

Very sad to hear that John Russell, improvising guitarist and Mopomoso concert series promoter has died. He leaves a huge hole in the London scene. Not sure whether his international profile was very high.

The seller I pre-ordered from told me it had been delayed at the pressing plant, it was due before Xmas. His best guess was "sometime in the new year" I'm adopting the "it'll be a lovely surprise if and when it arrives" approach...

I've ordered mine, waiting on delivery

Now onto 'Slightly Latin'. Remaster seems less of an improvement on this one. I really like this album although I get the impression that it's not generally well-regarded. Previously 'Rip, Rig and Panic', a stone-cold classic sounding as good as I've ever heard it Tapscott's in that list of great regrets never to have seen him live. I'm not aware of any UK gigs since 'bout 1990 ,which is when I probably became fully aware of him, are you? Girding myself for the reply that I missed a week's residency in 1987...

I can confidently predict it will fill up, quicker than you plan too One word...Wow!

That is a beautiful album. I honestly think that you can't go wrong with Tapscott, I've never heard a poor album by him yet, or even an average one There's a new 3LP issue due on Nimbus West which will be a 'must buy' https://www.discogs.com/Horace-Tapscott-Pan-Afrikan-Peoples-Arkestra-Live-At-Century-City-Playhouse-9979/release/16330602 Promo here Good to see you still have a nice bit of spare storage in that nice looking unit. Mine are jammed...

I think it was pretty obvious romauldo wasn't claiming every Australian of that generation were strolling along whistling 'The Sidewinder' but it's always good to check just in case a bad case of BN-itis has swept an entire nation . After all, there isn't a vaccine for that yet to my knowledge. I'm pretty that there's a good number of late-20/30 somethings in London and wider UK that now know of Lee Morgan. The recent upsurge in that generation's interest in Jazz is palpable and evident. Many of the achingly hip shops now list classic BNs next to the bands of the younger generation that are the usual draw. It's great that there's this entry point.

I like that whole album, a lot. A good example of thie rewards of this board as I would never have come across it if Jeffcrom (whatever happened to him?) hadn't posted it years ago. I need to listen to it, thanks for the reminder. I'm playing LP 1 of this 'I Talk With The Spirits' is in my top ten all time Jazz LPs. This is my first listen to this remaster. It sounds fabulous I often think I should investigate Hammond more not least because Steve Coleman cites him as a major influence.

Nice cover. Bet the music is good too

I'd consider buying this on vinyl. I have various edition CDs and LPs of the albums concerned so to have a consistent set would be nice. That being said postal charges etc would probably stop me. Exactly. The connoisseur market seems very quick to dismiss something that doesn't fit their niche needs.

My problem is I don't have the CD and that's up to £60. I shall enjoy a legit reissue whenever it arrives, patience is a virtue isn't it?

Had to wait for payday but done the right thing now. Also tweeted the link to spread the word. @jazzbo thanks for letting us know about the facebook check-in

There's a reissue of that appearing on listings recently. Almost definitely a bootleg

New strains from UK, SA and Brazil. All countries where government mismanagement or economic disadvantage has led to uncontrolled and high infection rates which encourages mutation. We're unlikely to see a South Korean strain I'll predict. As for Kent, at least it's not being disadvantaged by Brexit... -
Sounds great, even more tempted now

I've an order lined up from Holland, wondering whether to pull the trigger or not now. An extra 20% won't break the bank but...
