Shitpissnvomit.. New wave of experimental jazz ?
Blue Train replied to AvantHard's topic in Recommendations
I think the name has to do with the drummer. Obviously into extreme metal....not that there is any problem with that for me. Even the whole corpse paint and bands shirts. Probably also explains the names of several of the tracks. I actually think the drummer is the weak link. Maybe once he plays in more in this type of setting than he's used too....that could change. Lots of metal drummers come from a Jazz influenced background. No reason that can't be reversed given time. To answer the main question. I don't consider them that experimental, or breaking with expectations....unless they mean expectations of those that already know them from other non-Jazz projects in other genres/sub-genres of music. Don't get me wrong there is some good stuff in there.- 23 replies

Like the deal the NLFPA agreed too after the last strike and the NFL refs agreed too after their strike....the concession settlement for the former players is yet another major win for the NFL. It's really a joke. $765 million sounds like a lot, but there are potentially thousands of players....and you figure a third of that amount is probably going to the lawyers who represented the former players. Each team is going to pay a total of $23.9 million over 20-years. With around $4 million of that for each of the first 3-years and and around $700,000 for each of the remaining 17-years. Top it off....all the teams have to do is add the amount they're they would have to pay to their internal player budget (which they legally can do..)....and that means less money for current, future players over those 20-years. The teams won't even notice it. The NLFPA really can't say much (and has stayed out most everything) because they're afraid they will be sued by the former players. The NLFPA after all approved the NFL's handling of concussions in the past.

They were never going to be that good anyway. On the positive side. It puts them in the Jadeveon Clowney hunt. If they didn't overreach for Manuel; they might have been in the hunt for Bridgewater, or Boyd next year.

Yes, common in business circles. There are several more eggregious nouns-to-verbs, but I'm blanking on them now. I have heard "I can expense this" used as a comment, or question. There is a whole list of them and a long history of it happening. Even verbs-to-nouns. http://moreintelligentlife.com/content/ideas/anthony-gardner/youve-been-verbed

You actually think I would know that? I just saw Los Angeles and it was being shown on a screen on the same day.

Anyone know what was Monks last composition?
Blue Train replied to Hardbopjazz's topic in Miscellaneous Music
According to this site there were 2 compositions recorded in 1971 (Blue Sphere & Something in Blue on Nov. 15th) and one in 1972 (a private recording @ de Koenigswarter's house of A Merrier Christmas with Monk singing.) It doesn't mention in what order they were composed. http://www.monkzone.com/compositionshtml.htm -
Checking to see where it was showing to tell friends, and beside Rave....there is an outdoor viewing @ LA Historic Park on August 31st. Food trucks and live music before the screening. http://eatseehear.com/

A third of the current pitchers have had it. The majority of the time it happens after the All-Star break. Interestingly, many/most pitched in the the one worthless game in the season....that now decides which league has more home games in the World Series. to say that 1/3 of all MLB pitchers have had that procedure done is a bit of an exaggeration. From July 2013 One-third of current MLB pitchers have had Tommy John surgery. Of the about 360 who started the season, 124 share the all-too-familiar triangular scar. How surprising is this number? It stunned me! In recent talks with baseball officials, none guessed more than the one-in-nine number I had often seen quoted over the last decade (and quoted myself). Worse, none of us had any idea when this change had happened or noticed the acceleration. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1699659-the-alarming-increase-in-mlb-pitchers-whove-had-tommy-john-surgery

Burn Notice Final Season - Anyone Watching?
Blue Train replied to Dan Gould's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
You sure you watched the same show as everyone else? The first two seasons were especially about this. -

Just want to say without armor....even with all the "Flaxseed" he could't do what he "miraculously" did.

In this day an age when the HR is the be-all to end-all because of the Barroid Era....you have to be a mostly non-HR hitter. Rafael Palmeiro is the single one of the Barroids that can be found on the 3000+ list. Barroid with all the he intaked and elbow armor only made it to 2935 hits in 22-years. Only a total homer doesn't get what is wrong with the numbers.

If he only cut everything involving Bruce Willis' girlfriend in it....it would be my favorite of his. Of course, last film of his I liked by the ultimate of "borrowing" directors is Jackie Brown. Now it's more fun trying to figure which films, or directors he's outright stealing (I mean paying homage too) from.

The funny thing is Thicke has been "borrowing" Timberlake's act (which is Michael Jackson's (who borrowed from James Brown and Jackie Wilson and admitted it) and he at least admitted it...not putting Timberlake in Jackson's category....I don't even like Timberlake outside of his SNL stints, just making a point.) and Timberlake "borrowed" from Thicke's uncensored video of Blurred Lines for Tunnel Vision and that put Thicke finally on the map so to speak. Not posting the videos since they're so easy to to find.

Back to another thing. It's interesting how Bruckner and Mahler are so linked but so different. ? Third time is the charm?

Thanks to both of you for understanding what I meant. Never said he wasn't in the legal right. Just his entire career is based on straight out "borrowing" while acting like he's not. It's like Vanilla Ice and Under Pressure. I didn't think I had to point out on a Jazz board how much borrowing went on in Jazz, Blues, Pop, Rock, ect, or the Arts in general.

Most profitable team in MLB history....this year's Astros. They're going to make more in profit than the last 6 Champions combined did those years. That's on top of the $70 million Crane was paid to move to the AL. WTF? incentive does Crane have to pay to win? There is a luxury tax ....there should be some sort of minimum on team payroll. This year including bonuses the Astros' payroll is about $7+ million less than the Yankees are paying Mr. April. In fact as a team....they don't even crack the top 10 yearly salaries for players.

I realize most if not all of you don't know Robin Thicke. Thicke has made a career out of straight out robbing...I mean "borrowing" Gaye....but now straight out of Chutzpah....he's suing Gaye's estate. Latest "borrowing" is,,,,this really isn't the later. Later is the rated version of the video which Justin Timberlake "borrowed" the half-nude/nude females concept of Thicke's unrated version for Timberlake's Tunnel Vision video. George Clinton claims that there was no "borrowing" from Sexy Ways. As in, he settled. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRcVQDELAd4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyDUC1LUXSU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxKOQ3SfGhg Before that.....this didn't become the later. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLnvbHkeeTM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwFtfnUGJfg Oh yeah, from no the "borrowing" involved from Gaye continues. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Usl-h5f-8W0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FdQLUUx5I8
