  1. They may have to fight with the Cowboys and Redskins for his services at the end of this season! LOL
  2. There's still a Cheapo Records in Austin. Two cool-named, defunct music stores in Austin I used to like: Technophilia Stashus Mule
  3. Happy Birthday, Matthew!
  4. Happy Birthday, David! Hope the coming year is a wonderful one!
  5. I've never ridden in one, but they are certainly eye catching. Funky hydraulic/air-suspension systems! Does Citroen still incorporate that in their new cars?
  6. Why don't things say "3% Fat Full" instead of "97% Fat Free"?
  7. I dunno, you guys just cut Tully BantaCain, Joey Galloway, and Mike Matthews.
  8. If that were Romo, it would be after he tripped over the chalk on the field or something. I joke about it, but I'd be proud of a 16-0 season any day!
  9. Ok, I'm no guitar player, but I've got an acoustic that I pick up and strum occasionally. It's not fancy at all (it's a Korean-made Sigma, a subsidiary of Martin), and I ocasionally pick it up and make noise on it, but that's about it. Literally, just make noise, not much else! I'd like to do the same with an inexpensive electric, but haven't been willing to plunk down much money for one. Just today someone on the SH board mentioned there is a sale on some First Act guitars. He prefaced it by saying these are generally cheap, crappy products that are sold at Walmarts etc. I haven't ever seen these or looked at 'em, so wouldn't know the difference. But he did mention that they're selling their "Sheena" and "Lola" entry level guitars, for $49 apiece, on their website (bottom of page here). And he says they're actually pretty good guitars for what they are, listing at around $350 normally. I figure for $50 I probably won't go wrong, unless you guys here know some horror stories about these things. Anybody have any experience with them? The price caught my eye more than anything else.
  10. Glad that worked for you! I wish I'd gotten mine for that price - best I've seen.
  11. I wasn't implying you were being unreasonable. Just the person that actually attempted to make your second (black/white) assertion. I know you didn't actually assert that. You just compared the age thing to the black/white thing, and I rejected your comparison. I guess I didn't explain it clearly enough, for that I apologize. You clearly are insulting me though. Thanks.
  12. Kevin's Dr: "Kevin, you gotta stop having girls, man!!!"
  13. I think your comparison is false. Wisdom often does come with age and experience (maybe not in all cases), and I think that is what Steve's comment meant, in THIS particular case. Plus this should be rather obvious, but stamina TENDS to decrease as we age, so if he's playing with the vigor of a 40 year old, that's a good thing. I don't think he's implying that wisdom is exclusive to older age nor is stamina exclusive to youth. And I don't think anyone would consider the comparison to your example as valid, or take any reasonable person seriously who actually attempted to make that second assertion.
  14. The parents called the local NBC channel before they called 911.
  15. Welcome to the world to your daughter, and all the best to you, your wife, and Stella and Zora.
  16. How so? It seems to me to be saying he's got the best of both ages - the vigor of a (slightly) younger man and the wisdom of the older. No negativism implied or stated, IMO.
  17. Happy Birthday!
  18. Which one? The one with McCoy, Bob Cranshaw and Elvin, or with Sonny Clark, Sam Jones & Louis Hayes? MG I meant the one on Matador with McCoy/Elvin/Cranshaw. Gonna have to revisit the other on Complete Quartets, I forgot about that one.
  19. Grant Green's version of MFT is nice as well. Dunno whether it's second best or not.
  20. Oddly enough, this family was on "Wifeswap" last year or something. A rerun of one of the episodes was on last night, which I happened to stumble on, never having heard of the show before. They were sort of wild and weird - the father seemed to be undisciplined, as did the kids. The wife that briefly moved in with them had a challenge trying to get the them to actually help around the house with basic chores and things. Hope the missing kid turns up ok - I think some reports suggest he may not have actually gone up in it. Hope that's the case.
