'The Sidewinder': how many cover versions?
John L replied to chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez's topic in Artists
If you count all the "originals" that derive from it or sample it, the number of covers gets very big. -

My condolences to your family. -
Those are all great! The 40s may have been Bean's best decade.

To this day, I still party hard to "Who'd She Coo." But the Beatles were never in that sort of groove.
-
Black Lion also released it on CD under Hubbard's name as "Minor Mishap." Very confusing.

81 tracks of Syl is not too much.

I got your back, Roi Ubu. Those are my choices exactly. -
Joe Henderson Trio at the Village Vanguard
John L replied to Durium's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
I have a few Henderson concerts from the mid-1990s, but they are all quartet recordings with Bheki Mseleku on piano. In 1998, Joe suffered a career-ending stroke. -
Joe Henderson Trio at the Village Vanguard
John L replied to Durium's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
I think the Red album is "official" too, just not American in origin. There are two Red albums with the trio: An Evening With Joe Henderson from 1987 and The Standard Joe from 1991. Both have Al Foster on drums. The first has Charlie Haden on bass, the second has Rufus Reid. -
Interesting. Thanks. I have never heard this recording.
-
Right! The cause and effect are the other way around - if you have that much money, you can afford to be a jazz pianist.
-
Very interesting. I put in my order.

This specific phishing is not new. I received this exact email about 6 years ago.

A cleaned up official release from Rare Live Recordings?

Thanks. I haven't heard that one yet, but I like very much the following night (11/30/80) at Fox Theater in Atlanta. In fact, I think that someone on this forum hipped me to that one.

Jimi Hendrix West Coast Seattle Boy
John L replied to Stefan Wood's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Wow! Thanks for the heads up. It is amazing that, at this point in time, there is still so much more previously unissued Hendrix. Little Richard's "I Don't Know What You Got (But its Got Me)" is incredible! -
He was a truly great singer, one of my favorites. RIP
