  1. I'm on the fence on this one. Last time I saw her in person she wasn't very good.
  2. You are correct. I have the Rykodisc 2-fer. Great stuff. Pretty easily available I think.
  3. Cookbook, Vol.1 does it for me. Think I'll get Vol.2 & 3 too.
  4. Looking further at their website, it appears that Cadence is their U.S. distributor.

    Steve Lehman?

He's also really nice on Ophiuchus Butterfly , a Liberty Ellman CD on Pi.
  6. Chet Doxas Quartet: Sidewalk Etiquette Canadian sax player, supposed to be really good, $1.37 at Amazon Marketplace, took a chance.
  7. I guess we're off-topic here, but Keith Jarrett on ECM does NOT suck.
  8. An eBay seller who was "backordered"?? That's bogus. Was the seller caiman? An eBay seller should not be able to "sell" something not in his hands. This happens way too often. I've even seen items still listed by the same seller (not caiman who I never use) after they didn't fulfill my order. Aggravating. Pick your sellers with care.
  9. My copy is supposed to be delivered tomorrow in my CD Universe order.
  10. Cadence lists it.
  11. Holy s**t!!
  12. Goodbye is good, but War Orphans is much better (IMO).
  13. Excellent film (Children Of Men - not A.I.).
  14. Lockjaw: Cookbook, Vol.1 Tyner Mosaic Select (still a pre-order I guess)
  15. I thought the movie was well directed. The best movie I saw this week was Pan's Labyrinth (not to derail the thread).
  16. Martinelli 2004 pinot noir (one of their single vineyard releases).
  17. The original DB review (by Martin Williams) was 3 stars. Fair review considering the time. I meant the recent review of the Mosaic single. Sorry for any "confusion".
  18. I like it too. FWIW, 5 stars in Down Beat, reviewed as I recall by Kevin Whitehead.
  19. Picked up 2 Ryan Kisor Japanese releases - Donna Lee & Sidewinder. Both are really good (IMHO). On the "non-jazz" side I was impressed by both Amy Winehouse CDs.

    Matana Roberts

As I said earlier in this thread I think Matana is well worth hearing whenever possible. Doesn't matter what she wears (IMO). Frankie - thanks for starting this thread.

    Matana Roberts

Matana's great. I have the quartet CD on Utech (may be OOP) with Taylor Ho Bynum on tpt. that I really like. She also put out a solo CD that may be available from DMG. I got my copy directly from her.
  22. I just ordered the Nicole Mitchell Trio live CD with Harrison Bankhead & Hamid Drake from Greenleaf (paperback series).
  23. The 2 Ed Blackwell Project CDs on Enja recorded about 2 months before his death. I play these over & over.
  24. It'll probably come out right around the same time as Bouncin' With Bartok.
