  1. Through the Organissimo CDU link: Andrew Hill: Pax Joe Henderson Milestone "Select" Trio Beyond new Dave Alvin California covers CD Wailin' Jennys: Firecracker Timmons: Soul Time
  2. The Brian Lynch CDs, The first Hazeltine Classic Trio, One For All (IMHO)
  3. Get some of the Selects.
  4. Yep - Ryan Kisor.
  5. I agree. There are a number of relatively young writers that are really doing excellent work. These include Krauss, Jonathan Safran Foer (her husband), Myla Goldberg & T. Cooper. A somewhat "older" group including Michael Chabon & Jonathan Lethem also provide much reading pleasure.
  6. I touted this CD 2 1/2 years ago in this thread. Someone finally agrees.
  7. Alicia Erian: Towelhead
  8. Mexican Modernism at the Museum Of Fine Arts in Santa Fe (only US stop for this exhibition).
  9. Charlap's series of trio CDs on Venus is excellent.
  10. The New Archie Shepp Quartet: Tomorrow Will Be Another Day (Shepp, Amina, Cameron Brown & Ronnie Burrage). PAO10990 Recorded 2000 - Brooklyn & Austria. Worth the search.
  11. Maybe you could call him & ask him. I'm pretty sure he's still around.
  12. I like the Hill cover. The "new" Evans is the same as one of the old CDs it is made up of except, of course, it now says "The Complete Pacific Jazz Sessions".
  13. It's turd in the punchbowl time. That's usually Chuck's job.
  14. I like import Cd specialists better than caiman.
  15. Cadence is the best I've been able to find. $17 per which isn't "cheap", but they usually have everything. $1 off per CD if you're a subscriber which basically translates into free shipping with most of my orders (which are not just Criss Cross).

I think this thread has generally underestimated him. What I've heard on CrissCross & with the Mingus Big Band I've enjoyed a lot.
  17. They're coming out West this fall, we're told with Jimmy Cobb & Nat Reeves.
  18. It's on my "short" list.
  19. I like Kikuchi too. He does moan & groan louder than Keith Jarrett while he plays, so beware if that bothers you.
  20. Glad I checked back.
  21. Thought I was going to see Halle Berry. Never mind.
  22. Yes - we (I) did!!
  23. Woohoo!!!
  24. It's not the only thing, but I have to admit I really like the new Donald Fagen CD (Morph The Cat). Others in "heavy rotation" include Matana Roberts, Monday Michiru (yeah Jim nailed me too) & the Bunky Green Label Bleu CD.
