  1. Has this ever been on CD anyplace???
  2. Not to derail the thread, but Willie Dennis is a key part of my favorite Gary McFarland CD: Point Of Departure.
  3. I preordered this from the Atavistic website & have already received it from them. It's very, very good.
  4. Me too, but I'm not going to be in Paris.
  5. Blu, Blu, Blu
  6. Bought it. Thanks. Kevin Hays on piano can't hurt. BTW, he's living here in Santa Fe now.
  7. Nicki (Lon is right) can play. Hear her on the Rachel Z trio CD: The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face on Venus. BTW, Five Play has a new CD on Arbors (Plus). It's excellent. Nicki is not the bassist on this new CD. It's Noriko Ueda, & she can play also.
  8. What I've heard , I've liked. Not in the pantheon, but very nice playing.
  9. Uri Caine. Plays acoustic too, of course.
  10. Great point! I'm so paranoid about a bad mouse click that I'm going to wait for the Cellar Door & Monk/Trane to be shipped before ordering. ← Me too.
  11. Dave Douglas 2CD live set at Bimhuis, $14.98, free shipping, web only apparently.
  12. It's a rainy Friday night so I've done some further "diligence" on this music. After reading several Google references, John B. is correct. Now that I know about it, I don't "understand" it. As the old cliche goes, different strokes for different folks. BTW it doesn't matter one bit to me what people want to "advertise or sell".
  13. Maybe people shouldn't jump all over every person who tries to advertise or sell something on this board. (unless they post the same message in every forum) Maybe not every post on music some people don't know about or don't understand doesn't have to be posted in Funny Rat. ← Sorry if this is contentious. I didn't say "spam". Someone else did. Don't "jump all over" someone who doesn't get "2 CDs of snare drum". I get it that that's what Sean does. What does the person in the first paragraph of the first post in this thread play? He "blasted & shrieked" on what instrument?
  14. O.K. to those who are "looking forward" to this. The post just made very little sense to me (maybe I shouldn't admit that). Maybe belongs in the Funny Rat thread.
  15. What????

    Myra Melford

I like her groups, composing & playing. 'Nuff said. BTW I don't hear that Bad Plus comparison at all. I much prefer Myra.
  18. I love Santa Fe as well; usually visit every other year or so. I was out there several years ago on the day they opened the Georiga O'Keefe Museum and met Gene Hackman! Also spent the day before rafting on the Rio Grande, which was much fun! I was also out there when 9/11 happened and ended up driving back to Indy when my visit was over.....very eerie time. I'll drop you a line when I visit next! Mark ← Let me know.
  19. Oops! I saw SF & thought Santa Fe (where I live). Guess not. Never mind.
  20. Rick's a "cool" guy. FWIW, I've ordered a fair amount from RT in the past with excellent service. I'm afraid I too will stick with my CDU preorder, but I'll certainly continue to order when appropriate from RT.
  21. Gasoline went up 20 cents a gallon here this a.m..
  22. One Griffin that took a while to "kick in" was Change Of Pace with Julius Watkins on french horn. Once it did it was very nice.
  23. Tina Brooks vinyl. I don't have a turntable anymore, so I sold the few sets I had on vinyl (Brooks, Quebec, Ammons / Johnson, the first Hodges, maybe 1 or 2 others that I've blocked out). I have lots of great ones now on CD & wouldn't sell any of them.
  24. Don't ask. Don't tell.
  25. I had this on vinyl a "million" years ago. Recall it as very cool. Had a great cover too.
