  1. I have a drive to Iowa planned for the weekend. I imagine 87 octane will be no cheaper than the $2.79 it is this morning. My driving habits have been even more "egg under the foot" than usual...
  2. Live without Extensions? Guy ← Yeah, those late Tyner albums [Extensions, Time for Tyner, Tender Moments, Expansions] are some of my favorite Blue Notes! Great players, great charts, great tunes.
  3. What was your wife expecting this film to be? My taste is very eclectic and I like everything from Sci-Fi to Heavy Drama, to Comedies and even a little soft-core porn. This was none of these. As I say. Totally unique. Maybe your wife will give it another try in a while...................or not. ← My wife actually *tried* to fall asleep during this one.
  4. Do the negative numbers mean that you had them but sold them?
  5. Maybe you order too many box sets during their best promotions? Got this one today for 60% off no shipping 48 Hour sale, August 29-30: A5DS2 ← Wow, 60% off! Best I've seen is 2/3 off w/free shipping. But I'll use this 60% off and get the Ryan Adams COLD ROSES 2-CD $19 list set. Thanks ← Wow! I don't think I've ever seen 2/3-off AND free shipping! What a deal that would be! ← Just used this sweet deal to order Bob Marley - "Trenchtown Rock: Anthology 1969-78." Only $9.99 -- remindes me of the unspeakable of the $4.99 yourmusic.com days.
  6. The Sam Reeeevers was my first set. It was a Xmas gift. I have parted ways with the Monk set on LP, the Kenton Capitol, and the Ellington Reprise [twice, actually.] I sold the Monk when putting together the money for a down payment on my house, along with a deep groove mono first-pressing of Dizzy Reece's Star Bright on BN. The Kenton and Ellingtons were traded / sold because the music didn't bowl me over for the most part.
  7. I delete my threads in the offering and looking for section, after they have outlived their usefulness.
  8. Same here. I have to concentrate to hear vocals in any kind of music. I actually have a preference for vocal music in another language, as to not be distracted by the words. I know that may seem silly, but that is how it is. I just find it easier to attach to the emotion purely as sound.
  9. Grade & Description (cover): M- Excellent laminated cover, no real flaws. Yeah, except for that huge bend on the upper right corner. Geez!

    Favorite Solos

We have mentioned this one before. Quite possibly my favorite recording ever.
  11. Will it be a vocal duet?
  12. The fleet here in the twin cities has a couple of them, too. They are so quiet! I have never ridden on one, but as they drive by on the street, it sounds as if they are only idling. Them traditional diesel sum'bitches can be LOUD. On my daily communte, I wear over ear headphones sometimes for music, always for hearing protection.
  13. Hve they mis-priced in the past and then adjusted? Will they honor pre-orders if they change the price?
  14. this is my best guess, without digging out old files: 1 AEC - People In Sorrow 2 AEC - Les Stances A Sophie 3 Roscoe Mitchell - Nonaah 4 Air - Air Time 5 Warne Marsh - All Music ← I thought it might be #2, as that is the one I have seen the most of in that list.

    Favorite Solos

I have always loved his solo from "Hoe-Down" on that album.
  16. What was the biggest seller on the Nessa Label?
  17. Is this limited to a certain era?
  18. Blue Trane outsold The Sidewinder?
  19. Thanks for the tip! The Dark Star from 3-1-69 is insanely good. I have to pre-order this box! Must pre-order...must pre-order...
  20. I picked up Dick's Picks 7 [sept 1974] at a flea market for $7 this weekend. Killer!

    NEW FUN

Lucky... what do I have to do to get my own title?
  22. I forget how (or why?) the Kenny Cox idea was taken off the table? Too long? So-so sound? ← I think it was too long to put both on one disc, so they are working on playing back the master tape about 7% faster to get them to fit.

    Bobo Stenson

    He's no slouch either...
  24. Is this that chap from Tethered Moon? Masabumi Kikuchi?

I am curious to know what Anders Jormin's "Xieyi" album on ECM sounds like. It features a chamber music-looking line up of players/instruments: Anders Jormin double-bass Robin Rydqvist trumpet, flugelhorn Krister Petersson french horn Lars-Göran Carlsson trombone Niclas Rydh bass trombone
