Speaking of Stanko, I can heartily recommend "Litania - The Music of Krzysztof Komeda."

Agreed. I would start with Reflections, but it is a toss-up between that and War Orphans. Anders Jormin and Jon Christensen are the rhythm on these dates, and provide a superb interaction. The version of "My Man's Gone Now" on Reflections will take your breath away. I go for long periods without listening to these three records [serenity is nice, too] but when I do, I listen to all three, and maybe a couple of times.
  3. Man, this better not be copy-protected...
  4. In the end, that is what matters. Some things don't connect with me, so I don't listen. Air Supply, Celine Dion, etc.

  6. I imagine that the realtors around here in their Hummer H2s are taking full advantage of that break.
  7. I don't think there has ever been a run where I wanted five of the six in a batch. Here are two crossed fingers that these will be free of Boobys and Handcocks. Gotta pass on the Andrew Hill due to that big ole mosaic.
  8. All these were released on SACD lately, supposed to be superior to CDs. It doesn't make sense to reissue them on newly remastered CDs again. ← I bought some of these SACD hybrids via yourmusic.com. They sound more than fine to these ears...
  9. A buddy of mine did this for one of his house parties. It certainly is easier than hauling in the crate, but much less fun... The flyer:
  10. The Edison was the most recent thing form my queue. What a great record!
  11. It seems like this would be akin to shooting themselves in the foot. There are many of us that will not buy these simply because they contain copy protection [myself included]. Then there are those that will return the discs to the store because they will not play properly as the would indicate. I am almost compelled to buy one and return it, and get a replacement and return that, finally informing them that the whole thing is a scam. I can almost see the logic in copy-protecting something that will sell at platinum levels, but something that will move 800-1,000 copies? Ridiculous!
  12. Word. On a humorous note, my mother was talking to an old lady [notoriously slow driving one, at that] who said, "I don't know how people get into accidents. If I was going into the ditch, I would just stop the car."
  13. In response to the thread: WTF? Are we all criminals automatically upon purchase of products, each just waiting to fire up our mega-sized piracy machinery?
  14. I'll agree with that. If anything, it should be extended to those folks that run their tires below recommended inflation levels and don't have tune-ups at regular intervals. Seriously, though -- Audi's A4 station wagon gets 15 mpg. Pitiful. We can do better than that. This isn't 1972. The technology is there, Mr. auto-maker, lets use it.

Those Impulse! sides are amazing. That tone!
  16. I love stories like this. It makes me want to hear it ALL. The Ornette stuff, too!
  17. I'm talkin' lowrider! ← Ah man, they did that to a '65 Impala?? That was my car. I had two... one was a four door that I had in high school and college and the other was a cherry convertible that I bought as an investment. Both had the "you can't kill it" 283 V8. What an engine. What a car. BTW, the "investment" wound up losing $2K. The worst thing was I didn't even like driving it. Memories have a way of making you forget the bad shit about your young obsessions. After I got used to driving modern cars with tight handling and no yaw during turns, these beasts take some getting used to. The bias ply tires were the first to go. It was like driving on solid tires. The funniest thing was the steering. You could go down the highway and move the steering wheel back and forth about 2 inches and the car went straight. Mushy, mushy, mushy. Turn the wheel and the nose dives. Ah, give me a modern car any day. Kevin ← I remember driving my father's 1967 Ford F100 pickup with bias ply tires only on the front. It kept you busy, anyway, trying to keep it going straight. Otherwise, I loved driving that thing. Three on the tree, the inline 6 engine, no power brakes or steering.
  18. That was BAAAD. Poor guy.
  19. As long as it is not the Spyro Gyra of chicken...
  20. $688! ← Wow. I thought things were on the downturn with Mosaic prices.
  21. Volume 1 is now available (I guess it was far behind ). ← Just noticed this. "Let the Music Take Your Mind" on there from the Alive! date is SOOOO heavy.
  22. That is one of the best ways to keep the truly devoted coming back again and again. Having worked in a store for years, I would love to know what they give for trade-in credit. A CD for example. $5? $7? 2/3 of retail?
  23. POW! [just placed my order]
