  1. Babe Queensferry???? Eric
  2. There is a band called Mary Lee's Corvette with a live CD that covers Blood on the Tracks start to finish. Apparently they loved the record and just decided to play it one night. Very worthy, IMHO. Eric
  3. LOL (although I have no idea what this is about)
  4. For me, the only good stuff in the 80s was the punk/new wave stuff that came out in the first half of the decade. If you go back now and listen to anything with the "keyboard/synth" thing going, it sounds incredibly dated to me. Obvious examples don't rush to me, but perhaps consider the ongoing vitality of the Clash versus Duran Duran. Sorry Rooster, but I think "It's Hard" is a nearly unlistenable POS (save for a song or two). Sure, I had it then and then bought it again a few years ago on CD. Yuuuck! Cool thread ... it is pretty amazing (but perhaps not surprising) that for some of us, there is great similarity in our rock tastes. Proves the old saying I suppose - "there are two types of music - good and bad". Eric PS - Dr. J, you really, really, REALLY know your shit!!! The Jam - I thought I was the only American who owns that box! Bonnie Hayes - picked up her latest, having never known who she was back then - it is a good CD Low Life rules I saw X in KC this summer - it was a blast (do you have the Original Sinners CD?) Mummer? - refer my Jam comment above (have you been getting all the Partridge bootlegs gems/crap ?) Peter Gabriel 3 ??? awesome BTW ... do you know my all-time favorite kick-ass obscure rockabilly band - THE SPANIC BOYS (father son duo from Milwaukee). I saw them on SNL years ago - they were a last-minute replacement for Sinead O'Conner when she got uppity about something (sharing the bill with the Diceman, if I recall). This album is an all-time top 10 for me ... http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...=glance&s=music
  5. Sonny Clark - "Leapin' and Lopin'" was recorded on my DOB. Spooky thing is, there is a tune called "Eric Walks" on it ... Eric
  6. Mine too ... A Eric
  7. Couw - that may have been an oversight, but it was pretty damn funny! Eric
  8. Rolling Stone is a piece of crap, no question about it. I think the "top ten" are painfully obvious and I suspect I could have compiled such an insightful list 25 years ago. I di think the overall "top 500" has some value - I saw a bunch of old stuff I have not thought about for years and will probably check out some of the things I have not heard of. Eric
  9. I would rate it a solid "more of the same" I started with the second and then got the first and like 'em both. I would be curious to see them live ... wonder if they turn the intensity up a notch? Eric
  10. I saw that RVG reference too ... pretty cool. One band I have been checking out lately is the Strokes, based in NYC (I am pretty sure). Anyway, I hear a LOT of Television in there ... Eric
  11. Please add me to the list. Great idea - thanks! Eric
  12. Bud is one of my all-time favorites and you all have reminded me why. Time to spin some Bud!!! Eric
  13. Eric

    Donald Byrd

Agree - this is a nice one. Picked up the old "blue label" crappy pressing in the early 80s and have loved it since (although I have since upgraded to the TOCJ). Eric
  14. wildly off-top, but great avatars guys!
  15. At 42, I found myself divorced with three kids with whom I (luckily) spend a significant amount of time with. Once we collectively got over the "divorce is f*#&ed" thing, it has been back to normal - that is to say, an often chaotic but very rewarding rewarding. It is fun to read everyone's comments and just smile. BTW, just my opinion, but Mary Kate and Ashley are extraordinarily low on the talent level Very cute pics Jeff! Eric
  16. Agreed FFA! Let the spotlight shine on the Titans for a while. The Bengals did look pretty focussed while we seemed to have a "phone it in" mentality for 3+ quarters. Good lesson, I hope! Eric
  17. I was in Vegas last weekend and there was a "video billboard" advertising deep-friend Twinkees. They had a video of some hot chick who kept stuffing them in her mouth. Oh well, probably better than downing a bunch of tequilla shots ...
  18. Love the THB, Rooster! But where is the cat Eric
  19. Others will disagree, but this is definitely my least favorite Morgan. Looks fine on paper, but I find it to be plodding and frankly boring. Eric
  20. Jeff- This is Eric's kid. Tommorow is his b-day 13! Give him a raise or some other useless item!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks. Just kidding. But not about the b-day. !!!!!!!!!!! Griffin.
  21. Jeff, Awesome!!!! Thanks! Eric
  22. BTW, that "Sponge Cat" avatar is very cool too - how did you do that? I think my poor little Jayhawk needs some sprucing up ... Eric
  23. Great stuff guys !!! Eric
  24. Just checked this out - wonderful stuff!!! It is nice to see all the guys in pretty good shape (guess this was ~ 20 years ago). Sure, there are plenty of guys who should have been there, but no complaints on the basic cast. I saw very few of these guys live (only McCoy, Blakey and Woody Shaw), so this is a huge treat. Perhaps hard to separate the "historical quotient" from the "getting off" factor , but this is a "must have" for all BN fans. Eric
  25. Big Al, that is a hell of a quote!! Eric
