  1. A couple of years ago, I tried to sell an Andrew Hill import cd on this board for the price I paid for it. Immediately some posters began to attack my price, saying it was available on other sites for less. Now this information might have be useful to me in order to adjust my price, but when I went to check the other sites, not one had it available and the shipping costs for one site made it roughly equal to the price I offered, which the poster who mentioned it had not noticed. Bottom line, I felt some posters were pissing all over my sale without having their facts straight and it basically killed the sale. At that time, there were no comments from any moderator on the Board.
  2. Three that come to mind are Cecil Taylor, Herbie Nichols and Betty Carter. I recognize their talents, but they don't do anything for me.
  3. THanks guys! is the Live at the Fillmore Deluxe Edition better sounding than the last previous remaster of this disc which I think is from the late 90s?
  4. I recently bought Eat A Peach (Deluxe Edition) which has much better sound and extra tracks from the last Fillmore East Concert that had not previously been issued officially. It started me thinking about getting Live at the Fillmore East (Deluxe Edition) or maybe that Fillmore Concerts box? Obviously there may be some overlap of tunes here. What have you Allman Brothers fans done? Please don't keep me wondering.
  5. not sure what to make of it, but since I am another Indians fan in exile, I read all of your Indians posts with great interest.
  6. I purchased these speakers in 1995 for $1900 and they have been carefully used since then. These are full range, floor standing speakers 33inches tall, 8.5 inches wide, and 11 inches deep. A 6.5 inch woofer and 1 inch metal dome tweeter, and each speaker weighs about 42 pounds. I have the owner's manual, floor spikes, boxes and all of the original packing material that came with these speakers. The only blemish on these speakers is that one of the cabinets has a very slight dent on a top corner of about 1/8 to 1/4 inch in size. These speakers were a Stereophile Recommended Component. I am looking for $1195. I could ship these but it probably make sense to look at them and hear them first. I am in the NYC metro area.
  7. This cracks me up. If Emberglow can "easily hear the lyrics" even on this new 2010 remaster he has Superhuman hearing.
  8. I picked up the single disc version after hearing various extra tracks and alternates and not being too impressed. The remastered original album is, on my system and to my ears, a big sound quality improvement over the 90s Vigin edition of this album.
  9. THanks guys for all of your interesting comments.
  10. Doesn't anyone want to talk about Valleys? THis may be the best officially released version of "Red House" ever! Noel Redding's backing vocals on "Fire" is about as pleasant as fingernails on a blackboard.
  11. Was there discussion by posters who bought this disc? I just picked it up and some of it is very good, other parts I don't like. Is it superior to First Rays of the New Rising SUn? that's "Cry of Love" for those who had the old lps, right? as a kid that one disappointed me because I thought the first 3 studio albums to be masterpieces!!
  12. You scared the crap out of me, Hardbopjazz. When I saw Sam's name followed by dates I was worried about the worst. Go easy on me man, I have a condition.
  13. thanks Dave, that was interesting.
  14. Did anybody else see this Wall Street Journal article touting a survey that shows the Indians as the "most-hated team in baseball"? The Indians?! Really?! Gotta wonder about Nielsen's methodology there. I saw it and it can only mean that their fans are disappointed... I mean they haven't been dominant enough to hate like the Yankees!! Thanks Dan - this was funny. I guess we won't be seeing the Bosox in the ALCS.
  15. It is a nice, sturdy wood veneer equipment storage rack. Dimensions: Height = 44inches Width = 21 inches (interior width = 19.5) Depth = 19.5 inches It has three fixed shelves on the bottom, the lower 2 about eight inches high and the lowest one has a roll out shelf (I use these to store cds in those black cardboard boxes from Bags Unlimited which fit nicely 3 across and hold about 40 cds each - so I have about 240 cds in those two shelves). It has two adjustable shelves that go above the three fixed - so actually the space above the top 3 shelves is adjustable. It had a smoked glass door cover, which I replaced with a custom made wood grill because I needed more ventilation and I also removed part of the back for the same reason. IT is is great shape, with a few minor nicks/scratches, barely visible. I originally paid $240, but am looking for around $100. Obviously shipping this thing makes no sense, so it only makes sense to get this if you live or are passing through the NYC metro area.
  16. Price reduced to $25 delivered to a US address!
  17. My only problem with the Ornette box and I own it, is that I miss the sequencing of the original Lps. THese boxes have this passion about chronology or session order which I do not care about in the least.
  18. Just to make sure I understand, do I only need to look at the cds from where it says "Still Available" and down from there?
  19. Price reduced to $30 delivered to a US address!
  20. Thanks guys for all the comments. to get to the specifics, I yanked out the Aebersold vol 44 book which has "there will never be another you" and the one section is Db7+4 Eb C- F7+4 ... and the confusion came because a guitar chord book I was using shows you how to play the 7b5 chord, but no 7+4 chord. I think they are the same.
  21. Guys Thanks - I think? Those of you who say you have never seen the 7#4 chord (and no I do not mean the maj7#4 chord) - don't use Aebersold playalong cds or books. Aebersold uses this chord designation constantly(or maybe it is +4), but I see others referencing 7b5 - my guess is that it's the same chord. I am not really asking what scale I should be playing - I really just want to know the what chord I should play under a soloist.
  22. Is a C7b5 the same chord as a C7#4? It would seem to be, but I don't know - I see both kinds of notation going on.
  23. This set is in excellent condition, with the only exception being that one of the disc holders (just one) has a few broken teeth and so I would pack that disc separately so it doesn't move around. But discs themselves, booklet and cover are in excellent shape. $35 delivered to a US address.
