  1. What the hell? How many times have they "almost" ended that show?
  2. Glad you liked it.
  3. "The Best of NRBQ/Stay With We"----I found this was the way to get the songs I wanted from the their first album. It has most or all of their Columbia stuff and a few odds and ends. Certainly the first part of the title is a joke, but there's some great stuff here. Also got some Yo La Tengo... Electr-O-Pura Ride the Tiger And then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out
  4. Did he talk with his mouth full and pee on your carpet?
  5. I really love George Wallington. :tup
  6. My preference is "Pres"---plus that's the correct spelling.
  7. Was his nickname "Buddy"?
  8. Hey, I'm starting a Don Draper fan club, anyone want to join? Just watched Metropolitan on DVD. I like to revisit it every so often.
  9. I would not reply. Let life push him around.
  10. Assuming you're buying Beatles for Sale in stereo (not part of the box): That is by far their WORST stereo album. Completely lopsided mix with overwhelming vocals in the center, all of the instruments in one speaker, and like handclaps and an occasional out of tune guitar fill in the other. I have easy listening covers of Beatles tunes that rock way harder than that album. Pick up the 80s mono version on CD instead. IMHO. I always rather liked the cover of Chuck Berry's "Rock 'n' Roll Music" on that album.
  11. Please, Bob, don't do that fucking "Little Drummer Boy" song.
  12. I love Berigan----BUNNY Berigan, that is.
  13. It took me years to really get into King of America. But I finally saw it as one of his last really good albums.
  14. Wouldn't it be cool if he invented "Apple"? (BTW, is just it me, or does the Clifford Brown cover remind anyone else of a table cloth?
  15. Happy Lester Young Centennial everybody! (And it's "Pres.") Got to dig out my Columbia "Lester Young Story" double albums (turns out I've got all five volumes after all.) Give the old turntable a workout.
  16. Mad Men, Season 2, disc 4. Gotta love that Don!
  17. No comments on Secret, Profane, and Sugarcane?
  18. *Yawn* I can't even work up much outrage, since the original was such a non-event which the Beatles themselves had very little to do with.

    Wayne Shorter

    Happy belated Birthday Mr. Shorter!
  20. Yeah, that's the only thing by him I ever really liked, though I must admit to not making a great effort to check his stuff out. Nonetheless, RIP.
  21. I'm a little surprised she was only 69. The Brill Building was a young person's place back in the day... RIP and thanks for the tunes, Ellie.
  22. I believe he also did woodcarving, painting, and scrimshaw.
  23. "Einstein would've dug Radiohead." Good line. Or maybe he would have said something like, "God does not play dice with Radiohead."
  24. Happy belated Birthday!
  25. Agreed. And his voice...it was the exact sound correlative to his looks: No matter how thick the British accent, it was still Mike Myers voice putting on a British accent. Took me "out" of the film for a bit.
