The non AAA appears to be causing some discussion on the VMP thread.

Received my tracking too. -
That’s a pretty standard non-member price.

MLB 2023: how ya like it now?
Brad replied to ghost of miles's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I’m with you. Pretty meaningless and I dislike all this miking up players. I hate to sound like one of those how things were better years ago but players use to take this game seriously, not like they do now. -

I don’t think that’s completely correct. I went through the responses and there are eleven no’s, six yesses and four maybes. Over on Hoffman, the reverse is the case: seven yesses, two maybes and two no’s. -

That is an understatement. I spend a lot of time there and I think a lot of people on the new vinyl threads spend more time talking about non musical points. Economically, I don’t think it would be feasible for Mosaic. For example, if you have a problem with an Amazon or VMP purchased record, they tell you to keep it and send you a new one. Solutions like that could kill Mosaic. -

Do you use hearing aids. They make all the difference. -

I’ve used Twitter for quite a few years and find it useful for finding out or keeping track of my various interests. Once in awhile I discover a new writer or historian and that makes it particularly rewarding. As a rule, I don’t get involved with political discussions because there it gets toxic and so forth. I don’t care for FB and rarely go there. I post on IG sometimes and do follow a few people there, mostly jazz related. I signed up for Threads but I like Twitter better. When I’m on Twitter I just see the content of people I follow whereas on Threads it includes a lot of other people, which I really don’t need.

The sound is generally acceptable. They are probably air checks. There are no liner notes, just photos from other sessions. Most of the musicians in the first two dates are unidentified (perhaps local musicians). The Birdland date features Bud, Mingus, Art Taylor and Candido on congas. On the last date, he’s sitting in with the Chet Baker Quartet See https://www.discogs.com/master/1151100-Charlie-Parker-The-Bird-You-Never-Heard

Are there any box bargains currently available?
Brad replied to GA Russell's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
The only time I’ve purchased fragments was directly from Mosaic. I don’t have the Jamal set as I thought eight or nine CDs was more than I wanted but if I was so inclined one of these fragments would be perfect. -

Generally the prices don’t seem that bad to me. The Jamal discs work out to $15 per disc. If I wanted I’d have no issue paying that. -

He has two different auctions where you can choose your own Mosaic cd. I’ve seen that done with sports cards but never music. A bit novel. -

No, found it looking online.

The only thing I’ve been able to find was that it was a seven figure transaction.

That’s a great one

33rd Annual Jazz Record Bash-South Plainfield, NJ
Brad replied to Dmitry's topic in The Vinyl Frontier
I was there on Friday and the number of sellers seems to have shrunk. The selection of records seemed more swing oriented and there were quite a few 78 sellers. One thing I noticed was that unlike past years there were no exclusive cd sellers, except Mosaic and what they had were principally their sets (or partials) with a few odds and ends mixed in.
