  1. Weird fucking process.
  2. No, it’s not.
  3. I will check this out.
  4. Listening to Dave’s Picks 41, which I picked up from Lon (also 42-44). Forgot to renew in 2022 so I got lucky.
  5. I must be lucky because I’ve never had an issue with a DG package.
  6. I wasn’t sure of the point he was making either and I read the post three times. I think anyone would have been moved by Jam Session Blues in (D). I certainly was.
  7. I have the cd version of this from Jass which adds songs from Charlie Parker and is called Charlie Parker and the Stars of Modern Jazz at Carnegie Hall, Christmas 1949.
  8. David Crosby loved Twitter. David Crosby, a King of Twitter “The musician relished sharing opinions big and small, sparring with fans and dispelling myths, often in sharp, hilarious quips. The vibe on the platform changed, but he posted until the end.”
  9. If you’re just looking for a sampler, this isn’t bad and generally inexpensive too. It was issued in both lp and cd. https://www.discogs.com/release/3680995-Various-The-Best-Of-Chess-Jazz
  10. Mosaic just sent an email which says in part: “We've received a number of e-mails regarding the orders and wanted to explain where we are at. Mosaic Records utilizes an outside fulfillment house. They are a small business and are not staffed to ship all orders same day. All orders placed by Jan 11th are expected to ship this week but it is possible there is a spillover until next week. You will receive an e-mail with tracking # when shipped. We had a strong response to the sale priced preorder. We sent a notice on Jan 12 that we had run thru our initial stock. We expect the reorder to arrive in about 2 weeks. Also to clear up some confusion regarding credit card orders. There is a rule imposed by the credit card companies whereby the authorization for charging the card is only valid for 30 days. We should have charged early orders (Dec 15th and prior) at this point but screwed up and had to notify those to reorder. If ordered by PayPal there was no issue and any PayPal orders are now being processed. Also please note that whether you ordered by PayPal or credit card this does not change when your order is shipped.”
  11. You can’t be serious relying on on this rag as a source.
  12. I received mine on Friday but only just had a chance to listen to the first disc. I don’t have most of this music so this is the first time I’m hearing it… and loving it. The book stock is indeed made up of heavier stock and mine has no issues except the photo of Hank as Sonny. As @John Lsaid, great job.
  13. I have a fair amount of Argo. Sonny Stitt at the DJ Lounge is one of my favorites. Sonny recorded a lot for them. Cadet was a related label but I have little of that. VMP is doing a Cadet box that spans a few genres.
  14. Kenny Dorham’s Una Mas.
  15. I still am though I’m not actively looking.
  16. RIP. Growing up in the 60s, the Byrds and CSN were part of my life. They helped create a sound and a feeling (have to include Buffalo Springfield in there). I seem to recall that he and Graham Nash had a falling out a couple of years ago; I hope they reconciled or made peace before he died. The Eagles and like minded groups bastardized that sound.
  17. They opened up the ordering around December 12th or so. December 13 is the date I ordered it. On Monday the 16th they told me the authorization had expired. So, in other words, a one month window.
  18. In the last couple of days,
  19. I don’t like what Craft has done post Fantasy sale but in the case of Eastern Sounds there were many copies available on Discogs and eBay when they first announced that they were reissuing Eastern Sounds.
  20. I always thought Hank and Sonny were fraternal twins. When they told me that I needed to re-authorize the card they also said I had not lost my place in line; my concern had been that I might then need to wait until they had made a second run.
  21. As did I, at the original price. It’s the best sounding record that I have. The resale price only ballooned up to $300 and over because they had committed to a small amount of copies and due to pressing plants being at capacity they couldn’t change the number. This wasn’t a problem with the subsequent two releases. There isn’t any criteria for how they choose a record so it doesn’t have to be a classic. What’s next has already happened; they’re reissuing Vince Guaraldi’s Jazz Impressions of Black Orpheus. I had pre-ordered the Way Out West set and had forgotten about the Freelance box, which I never got around to purchasing. I may instead buy that box and cancel the pre-order.
