  1. Nice mark up.
  2. This is a new one on me; I've never had that happen. Is this possibly due to age or just repeated use?
  3. Bertrand, Very well put. They've kept their material in print for years unlike other labels and for that we should be eternally grateful. I'm particular thankful for all the Blue Mitchell cds not to mention the Bill Evans K2 cds.
  4. Going back to listen to the Joe Pass one, haven't heard that in a while.
  5. In my view, this is still important to reissue for a newer generation of fans, then if for nothing else.
  6. Wan't aware that it had been out that recently since I only became a jazzer in 98 but from my perspective this one is not that common and I'm glad to see it come out again for the newer fans.
  7. Well, you know what they say about a sucker being born every minute. Gimme that lollipop
  8. The other Venus that I have of Hazeltine's (thank to Dan Gould's suggestion), Senor Blues, is a worthy pickup. I was about to play it and can't find it. Great filing system
  9. Ditto
  10. Getting the RVGs is probably worth it although those are not bad already and if they have any inventory of OJCs, then that can't be bad.

    iPod tube amp

I think the ipods sound pretty good already but that must really boost the sound.
  12. Yup, glad you got the Ory. Sounds like that supply is down to five or less, maybe less.
  13. If it's 3 to 5 weeks, that's not airmail but economy. I've been selling some cds lately and they get over to the continent in less than a week. Shipping couldn't be more than $20 although I don't know what you're paying.
  14. Since I'm a late comer on this topic, I won't get worked up about this but when you're making cdrs of something there's a difference between that and a Mosaic going oop. On the other hand, I do understand the need to put some finality to something also. So, while it may seem arbitrary, it's also understandable since you just keep extending something forever. Just sorry I missed it. If anyone wants to make a cdr of a cdr, I would be much obliged.
  15. Harold, They play normally in anything but a computer. What's bad or regretful is that this has detracted from a discussion of some otherwise fine cds. I've listened to the Gordon, Jamal, Blakey and am listening to the Brookmeyer and they're all outstanding. I find the polyrythms in the Blakey cd (the first 3 cuts, the rest is conventional hard bop) fascinating. My family wasn't crazy about that but I loved it. The music is just great and so are the notes. Columbia has done a first class job with these reissues. In each case, the liner notes are written by somebody special. For example, Randy Weston wrote the notes for the Jamal cd.
  16. I missed this too. The list can't be changed? Doesn't that seem a tad arbitrary?
  17. Time to revise the list
  18. I can't imagine they'd sell a partial set; that seems strange.
  19. I've got most of these and won't be getting these for the above reasons. As to the coolness of RVG's Prestige work, a lot may have to do that he mastered records differently for them than for BN. This was discussed a while ago when he said that he wouldn't master records for others the same way he did for BN. So, maybe that's some of it.
  20. Have to go with Rosco on this one. Nice disc, actually 2.
  21. Have to agree. The chase is sweeter. Took me a long time to get the Clayton Mosaic and longer to persuade the seller to sell. Once I received, it I played but I can't say I played the heck out of it or I reach for it a lot.
  22. Gonna have to let it go

    Howard McGhee

    Here's the cover.
  24. Reminds me of that woman who sued McDonalds for not warning that the coffee was hot.
  25. Up, for trade as well.
