  1. For those who may be inclined, Best of the West is now back in stock at Dusty Groove.
  2. This has come to be a nightly event for Universal, with rostasi getting one tonight. I may have to take a chance tomorrow.
  3. This appears to to have come out before Someday My Prince Will Come which had some fantastic musicianship. Has anyone picked this up and have views?
  4. There's a copy on ebay right now for another 12 hours (not mine).
  5. Happy Birthday Mike (although a day late) :rsmile:

I think Cadence had a lot of these but I don't know if they still do. Some of the sound is on the kind found in the Mosaic. There are some sessions at the Pershing ballroom that are very hard to listen to. Then, there's a session on Vol 18 at a club in LA that's really good sound and definitely worth it. So, it depends on your threshold.
  7. I found that somewhat disconcerting but not surprising because after listening to him for awhile I know that is his philosophy, believing that in removing the pops, crackles, etc. you lose something of the music.
  8. I would have guessed that the Adams quote would have come out of the mouth of Eddie Condon.
  9. Monkboughtlunch, You raise some convincing points and you're obviously an engineer who knows Rudy well so I'll defer to you on these points. But it would be interesting if someone could ask Rudy about this.
  10. This could be a normal out of stock situation (hopefully). You'd think an Art Farmer title would not be that quickly deleted.
  11. You're probably right about deleting this thread. Those who are going to have read it and be warned have probably done so already. It's just not good if it's not resolved, with or without this thread. If it happened to me, I wouln't be a happy camper but at some point, you have to reluctantly concede it a loss.
  12. Don't forget about the Art Pepper. That's a classic in my books.
  13. Thank you for posting that Wesbed. I'm not sure I see the relevance of this kind of thread. We all received good music, isn't that what matters?
  14. Especially when your responses consist of quotes and adding one or two lines.
  15. I went ahead and got a new one, an Alpine. It's real nice.
  16. We're getting it here soon. Nice time to crawl into bed and listen to some music. Good tomorrow's a holiday.
  17. It strikes me as odd that Verve would issue the LPR then this but what the hell I'm glad to get the undubbed version of the last 6 tracks. Having the dubbed versions is all right but I'm glad I now have both. On another point, if Rudy recorded some of these tracks, I can't imagine that Creed Taylor would have someone else do it for the Alan Grant tracks. Since they apparently worked together, it would strike me as odd to have Rudy record one set and somebody another. As Rudy said on the recently released Perfect Tracks, it takes 3 days to do one of these sessions, why would you then have someone else do the same thing with the hours that you need to bring the equipment, set up and break down. I also find the sound to be very good on the whole cd. I will be selling my older Half Note, that's for sure.
  18. I don't think we should have a feedback system here only because I don't see it as a function of this board. I see merits in both sides of the argument (handling it privately vs. airing it). However, since this isn't ebay and if a seller doesn't respond to emails or complaints (and I'm not trying to inject myself into the dealing Paul may have had with other people), I don't see much choice but to air this in this forum. Hopefully, in so doing, it will be resolved to everyone's satisfaction.
  19. Ray, That's good to hear that they've improved. I might just take a look at some of their auctions again then because they do have soom good stuff.
  20. I don't want to scare Pete but universal is notoriously slow in shipping and not that good at customer service. I don't find them at all reliable and I avoid their auctions now. Don't get me wrong. You'll get the item but unless they've improved, you need to keep after them. BTW, Indestructible is right. They put them on around 845, 850 EST. And like clockwork, they're gone in a few minutes.
  21. This is getting somewhat boring. Dave's advice is very good. We all know what the relative boards are about and we all know that we're not trying to be patronising (which I think Bev recognized) so as Greg said let's get on with and start posting something useful. Sheesh!
  22. I thought about that but my car didn't come with a cassette player so that option is out.
  23. I've had my car about 5 years and do a lot of listening in the car. In the past few weeks, the cd player has developing a lot of static, interfering with the music and it's gotten worse to the point where the player now spits out the cd so it won't play. It's basically broken. Does this sound familiar to anybody. Is it worth getting fixed or should get a new player and if I get a new one, how much do you think I should spend on one since I'm only planning to have the car 3 more years or so. Any advice would be appreciated.
  24. OK, Mr. V B-)
