Hey, it ticks me off but that's the way it is sometimes -
That's pretty funny Ron. Someone took you seriously
-
Yeah, Brad, but maybe that's just YOUR copy. They told me your copy would take a little bit longer because they have to put in all those alternate takes.

I try to be the voice of reason sometimes but I just get trampled over

Mosaic told me today that they expect the Select to be in early next week.

Dude, you took my thoughts away. Give me some of them berries. -
I received some long email from customer support saying they've rolled out a new ActiveX control for Enhanced picture services and that sometimes it presents problems until user have it properly installed. One of the things they asked me to do is "clear my cache." What does that mean?
-
The problem I'm having is that when you go the add pictures feature, you would click on an icon which would then take you to your computer's hard drive (e.g. my pictures) and you upload what you want. In my case, there's no icon to click. It's weird. I called ebay on Wed. and they said they were aware of the problem ("technical glitch") and they were working on it. However. so far, it's still not fixed. So I have to call them again.

It happens to be true about having to deliver no matter how long ago it was written. I discussed a story I saw in Sports Illustrated with the head of our mailroom. The story was that someone got their copy 20 years after it was published and I asked why bother. His reply was that under the laws of most countries if you don't deliver the mail no matter when it was postmarked it's a crime. He mentioned to me a story where someone mailed a postcard from Italy and it arrived 20 years later. By this time, the people who had sent it had died and their children had moved away but a neighbor had kept in touch with the kids and had the p.o. forward it on to them. So these things do happen.

16, counting the Mosaic as 3.

The weird thing about their rating is that ebay says the total negatives are 12 while if you count them all up (and most of them are from 4 or 5 bidders), there are about 25 or so negatives. Perhaps they used some mediation service but that's 5 percent or so. Never seen a rating that bad and I think this auction house is well known.

a tiny rant/question on selling Mosaics for profit

I think we should all meet to discuss Mosaic and economic theories and then proceed to get stone drunk -
a tiny rant/question on selling Mosaics for profit
Brad replied to tranemonk's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I like AB's point that the high prices encourage demand and thus supply. But what encourages that demand and thus the supply? The fact that it's a very limited commodity, which everybody seems to be glossing over. Oil is not scarce. The retired Mosaic commodity is not generally available and there are few sellers. You may have less than 10 out of a possible 5,000 (or less if the license ran out) at any given time. Since there are so few and people who missed out or newcomers want them, because it is limited the price will go up and this will encourage sales. However, as most ebay buyers will know that if you have 2 or 3 auctions of the same Mosaic going at once, the price will drop because you have more to choose from. This rarely happens because sellers are not stupid so supply will be limited and demand greater and prices higher. Class back in session. -

You should check out Someday My Prince Will Come with Hank, Elvin and Richard Davis. One of the better albums from last year.

Amen to that!!! All of this and no Phil Schapp! Or so I thought, anyway; I don’t know who this guy is yakkin’ right now, but he’s been going on for about ten minutes now. Shut up and play the music, fercryinoutloud!!!! EDIT: The guy's name is Ben Young. Following in Schapp's footsteps? I thought Ben Young was highly thought of. Hasn't he authored some books?

a tiny rant/question on selling Mosaics for profit
Brad replied to tranemonk's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Allen, Are you sure you're not the one selling that Cole Mosaic . I don't claim to be the world's brightest bulb but when you say "the higher the price, the lower the demand and the lower the price, the higher the demand" doesn't that assume that you have that commodity in plentiful demand. This is not the case, it's a relatively rare item. So isn't it the higher the demand together with its scarcity equal a higher price? I too will follow the path of Ron S. and retire, to everybody's relief. -

Yeah, Al, I love that. Very funny. No doubt about who was running the show. I heard Flamingo this morning on WKCR. Simply beautiful and moving version. -
a tiny rant/question on selling Mosaics for profit
Brad replied to tranemonk's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I have no way to refute this but this has to be the most ludicrous statement I've heard from a normally rational person. This was typical economics. Again, I repeat: when people want a lot of a commodity and there's not a lot of it around, the price will go up. He got some person (I'll leave it at that) to pay a ridiculous price. Let's move on. -
a tiny rant/question on selling Mosaics for profit
Brad replied to tranemonk's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
This has to be the stupidest idea for a thread that I've seen here in a while. Whether or not you believe in a free market, the fact is that when there's a limited supply of something and a lot of people who want to buy it, that something is going to be very expensive. Should this seller have gone up to tranemonk and say "gee, would you like my Nat King Cole Mosaic for a nickel?" I don't think so. That would be slightly dumb. I'm sure very few people buy these for speculation because time and experience has shown that's very risky. If you want to lament about ebay prices, as the saying goes, "been there, done that." It is what it is and no use bitchin' about it. -
WKCR is running a memorial broadcast all day today for Jimmy Smith. They will be playing only his music all day.

Has ebay changed the way you can upload pictures? I was trying to list something tonight and it seemed like the whole thing had changed and I couldn't post a picture. Any hints would be appreciated.
