  1. I don't see the big deal frankly or having ads on uniforms. I happen to be a football (soccer to America ) fan and this has been happening for years. It earns the team money and if it helps to sign a free agent, why the hell not. It's strange to see at first but after awhile you get used to it. What's the difference between this and calling it Petco Park or Bank One Ballpark. At least they don't sell the naming rights in Europe.
  2. Maybe this is in the category of dumb questions but did King originally have the right in Japan to issue the BNs and was that then this passed on to Toshiba. Second question, are some of the covers that have been posted here from that great web site different from how they were issued in the US. And if they were the same, why are the covers different from Japan to the US. For instance, Jim R indicated that Live at the Renaissance Club was issued as Three Blind Mice. Why different covers. Some of these covers are better than the US issue. And great covers do help sell records.
  3. This set is comparable to the Commodores, just because it's the entire output for this label. I think this is one of the best Mosaics. There's not a bad side in this colletion.
  4. Allen, did you ever get this. How does it sound.
  5. This is one kick ass, take no prisoners session, if I can borrow a line that I'm sure Jim S must have used. The organ player is on fire here and this is one of the better Sonny sessions from that time period. It's hard to believe that it's oop. Anyone needing it should check with Hiroshi. This one cries out to be reissued in this country.
  6. I've purchased from them before and their shipping is a little expensive and their service is not the quickest but it's ok. Their site, even if you don't speak french, is not that hard to use because it's just like Amazon US. However, I do know a little french (I took it in high school) and that helps.
  7. This may be a little late but there's a Blue Note history film going on True Channel right now. I have dish network but I don't know what cable systems carry this one.
  8. I'm sure that most of these have been reissued in some form or another (e.g. Street Singer in Jackie's Bag) but what about Blakey's Live at the Renaissance Club? Has that come out as something else?
  9. This group doesn't overly excite me, except for Wilson's Easterly Winds, which I already have and the Larry Young, which I don't. I'm not familar with Horace's US of Mind but it seems that his stuff get issued over other deserving stuff. I mean, what does it take to get a g** d*** Three Sounds cd reissued, for Chriss sake. I have the early BN Sounds stuff but I know there are others who don't who would love it. I'm also all for Booker.
  10. yeah, life goes on. Thanks to you guys, I already put it behind me.
  11. I'm not familiar with most of these sites. Anyway, I prefer cd universe, hands down over amazon. Where's jazz loft? That's a good site, esp. for SteepleChase.
  12. FYI, there's a copy of Night Lights on ebay right now.
  13. Brad, if there Was proof, you'd pay $2400 for a cork and nasty-looking brush? Reminds me of a caption on a display case in a Museum of WWII in Russia. Subjects that belonged to Private Ivanov - a rusty nail with which he charged the German officer and a bullet from his skull. Dude lived large... Nope. Not even with proof. But if I were a collector I wouldn't even consider it without the requisite proof.
  14. Do I get a free sealed JRVG or VICJ for the tip ?
  15. Wasn't someone looking for this a while ago. Great opening price. I'm not the seller. Also saw Rare Tracks: The Other Side of BN 4000. This is a great 4 cd collection, with decent liner notes. At a great price too. Also not the seller.
  16. I once saw Volume 1 (a couple of years ago) at Jazz Record Center for $450. Unfortunately, it was too rich for my blood. But I posted seeing it and I knew it was gone within hours. I've had to settle for the few cd issues available.
  17. Brownie, just sent you a PM back.

  19. Hey maren, were you on wbgo today. They said somebody named maren was hosting the midday show for having pledged $500. Was that you?
  20. Thank you for the advice and the PM from Moose. Yes, I'll just live with it. Ticks me off though. As far as going on vacation, the auction ended on April 3, I invoiced him on the 4th and hadn't received his check by the 8th when I was off from work. When he asked about it, I told him I was on vacation and would check the box when I returned. That apparently wasn't good enough for the idiot. As a buyer, I've had sellers not send me something for a couple of weeks for one reason or another including job, vacation, etc. That's ok I understand. Maybe I'm too understanding but I wouldn't leave a negative because of that. Well, time to move on.
  21. I sold an item on ebay and the buyer left negative feedback. He claimed I didn't respond to him fast enough (I was on vacation at the time). He left negative feedback within 2 weeks of the sale of the item even though he has it by now. Because this was the only I've ever received, it pissed me off enough so that I started a case with Square Trade but they closed it because the buyer said he was having "technical difficulties" using Square Trade. ST said I could talk to ebay but what I want is the negative feedback retracted. Will ebay do that or should I just forget about it. Any advice is appreciated.
  22. That makes two of us.
  23. I chose option 3, to pay for all my jazz sets (mosaic, fantasy, verve) that I need to purchase this year Seriously, I stole 10 pesos from our maid when we lived in Uruguay in the mid 50s. For what you ask? To buy toys, not the latest jazz lp. When the maid complained that someone had stolen some money from her, I tried the Nixon tack but unlike him, I soon admitted it and had to work it off to pay her back. That's the extent of my larceny. Now, getting back to how I'm going to pay for those sets.....
  24. I've never seen any thing related to rap where women, if they're not being put down, are merely viewed as sex toys. To me rap is not only degrading to women but presents a very negative view of African Americans in toto. I find rap to be a blasphemy in its entirety. It's sad that this country which has produced jazz and soul has come to this as a form of musical expression.
  25. Sadly, that's true.
