$34 or $35 for 100 seems like a good price to me. I hadn’t considered them before jewel cases but will in the future.

Both are great books. I recommend all books in Oxford’s US History series. If you should decide you’re looking for a book on Gettysburg, I recommend two: Garry Wills’ book, a book full of interesting ideas, and Allen Guelzo’s book. Guelzo seems to be getting a bad rap lately for his criticisms of the 1619 project but he’s a brilliant historian. His book on the Lincoln Douglas debates is fascinating as is his other book on Lincoln. He has a book coming out on Lee; it may be out already. If you’re looking for a background to the Civil War, the best book I’ve read on the topic and simply one of the best books I’ve ever read is David Potter’s The Impending Crisis, 1848-1861. It's nothing short of brilliant.

There is a FB group that I frequent sometimes and yesterday I caught a video by the person who manages it, Ken Micaleff. It’s a bit direct I would say.

Sonny Fox, the host of Wonderama, which was popular in the 60s, has passed away, from Covid unfortunately. Sonny Fox, Whose ‘Wonderama’ Mixed Fun and Learning, Dies at 95 Those of you born in the 60s and after won’t remember this show but it was a great show, treating kids with respect. I fondly remember his show and am sad that he has died. Another symbol of our youth who is no longer with us. RIP Sonny.

This is sort of a Mosaic question that somebody pointed out on Hoffman. Universal just released, as part of its Acoustic Sounds Series, Clifford Brown’s Study in Brown. The notes in the Discogs entry states that it’s a repressing of the record from Mosaic MRLP 3004, the Brown Roach EmArcy Albums, issued in 2012 Discogs Entry: Clifford Brown Max Roach Study in Brown Someone on Hoffman noted that the deadwax from the Mosaic set and the new release are identical. Anyone have any ideas about this. Is it just that Universal in its license to Mosaic reserved the right to use the same configuration after the Mosaic license expired? If so, is this a common practice?

I think it’s fascinating; I can’t put it down. I confess to not having read most, if not all, of the books he discusses. The book is a mixture of the discussion of the books and the social background leading to them.
