  1. Grant Green- A Day In The Life, my favorite beatles/jazz cover
  2. way to salute bjp! i just watched the music video- not only a great jazz musican, but a great man. has any more info ever been unearthed about his time arranging for the jackson 5?
  3. got the early f.s. cd issues and passed on the lps over the years, now i never seem em anywhere anymore- i guess theres stereo and mono for each volume.
  4. saw this http://colterharpermusic.blogspot.com/2013/09/guitarist-jimmy-ponder-1946-2013.html
  5. it must be a horrible experience, i feel so bad for him. although hes gone through periods of major obscurity its fantastic that hes in the NY times and that hes had a comeback in recent years. hes on some of my AAA#1 favorite BN dates, love him
  6. he played a show in san diego earlier this summer
  7. saw him last weekend, a reunion of 11th house (minus mike mandel, who could not make it last minute due to a health concern). fantastic concert
  8. live Rakin & Scrapin at the both/and 1970, on vinyl. just got this, sounds fantastic. the lee morgan trip lps were also issued by ""parent"" company mercury, but only in japan. one song per side on this lp, grooves are spaced good.
  9. wonder who has the mono kind of blue tapes....
  10. not europe 72 but their previous live album, i have the ultmate cutting, and its mint!
  11. jesus brownie, jesus. from chillin w/ mobley on the train to photographing the dead right up against their amps.....you did it all!!!
  12. its really great to see stuff like this turning up for release- heres hoping to many more!
  13. now this is a reissue i like: a new wolff color photo for the lp cover, it looks great! reminds me of that one mobe photo in the yellow shirt, same sort of lighting. now SUNSET should of put -that-, on a mobley Sunset cover. Mobley never got one. Lee Morgan did. "All The Way" (Candy). although morgan was not on that- they had one of those liberty cheescake photos, like a rejected sandy nelson cover. this lp is stanleys LOOK OUT session in stereo i should add if i had 5 rvg originals right now, id prob. pick this copy hands down, it might be a liberty recut and much more fragile vinyl than the rvg, but it absolutely sounds demo quality-
  14. so ready 4 this! this is the most splendid news- hope the transfers good.
  15. could you snap a pic of that master tape, is it a big pic in the booklet, or tiny.... im amazed they have the tape to use for these cds, technically these could possibly sound amazing....but will they, probs not
  16. blowfly said that once in the 60s, diana ross came in and tippped him a $500 bill
  17. clapton played royal albert a few mos ago, and they had donation collectors holdin buckets by the door, you know how donation collectors hold buckets like that? well my cousin went, and he walked in, and guess who the bucket collector was: B-I-L-L B-R-U-F-O-R-D. he said clapton phoned it in and meeting bill was by far worth the complete price of admission.
  18. sir charles? really? this is slightly OT but is it true Jymie Merritt is still alive?
  19. devastated about this, George Duke's music, to me, was the future of music. when so many of those fusion albums from the same time today sound dated, aura will prevail still sounds like its from the future. and he was the funkiest man alive. he had a whammy bar on his clavinet for godsake. and hes prob my favorite male jazz vocalist once i told him 'ive been w/ you since the World Pacific days", and he's all, u dont look that old, lollolol
  20. incredibly sad about this, RIP.
  21. the one i have is on sonnet. yes, jazzwest, not transition. it might not be styrene but it is exteremly fragile!
  22. peckin time was the end of an era! never would be the same after that!
