  1. There is another similar joke, in form, about Jimmy Buffett dying and being led to his house by God. Jimmy's place is a little shack on the beach, and he notices a big mansion on the mountainside with Grateful Dead banners and rainbow colored dancing bears and Jimmy says to God, I get this little shack and Jerry Garcia gets a mansion on the hill and God says, "That's not Jerry's house, that's my house"!
  2. Cecil Taylor and Mary Lou Williams!
  3. I believe he may have also said words to that effect to Grachan Moncur when he left for a solo career. For that matter he probably said that quite often once someone left the band. The scene from the Blue Brother film featuring Ray will always be one of my favorite moments in Cinematic history!! "Naturally, I'm gonna have to ask for an IOU!"
  4. Yeah but they didn't really 'break up' in the first place, just took a couple of years off. Anyways. I was a huge, I mean, HUGE Phishhead from about '95 until 2000, and when they took a break it was about time to start listening to jazz again. Outside of them there was nothing in the general popular music world that interested me, so I looked backward, as one is wont to do. I thought they were running out of steam anywas, but I will always apreciate them for what they have done, even long after I have given all my bootlegged shows away. Thats a pretty strong bond if you ask me. I havent listened to them on a reqular basis for the last 3 years or so, but still have strong feelings when people start talking smack. They just dont understand anyways so it's not my problem!
  5. Post more pictures like this please!!!

I was never really that big on the UA material either, apart from the sides with Jaki Byard, I didn't think that set was anything spectacular. On the other hand Hindsight is an excellent disk, Home a tad less so, as far as the Steeplechase material. His last cd he made before he died was pretty good as well, with Joanne Brackeen and Charlie Persip guesting. Until I heard Makanda I had never heard anyone solo on bassoon or Oboe in a jazz setting. Pretty cool if you ask me.
  7. Damn...'Sheeds injury sounds WAY more painful than I had originally thought. I wonder how many guys in the same situation would have sat out the series. It says a lot about what kind of player he is. Then again I have always liked 'Sheeds game, and hope the Pistons can finish off the series tomorrow night.
  8. Coming in on this thread a minute too late, but this site is got it down in terms of whats on what and how different versions of said what (chicken) measure (ment) up to others. http://w1.858.telia.com/~u85821131/vinylvs...uncle_meat.html
  9. All of em!!!
  10. Considering Frank Zappa released 5 CD's of JUST guitar solos, its really not that big of a deal!

Hopefully they will add some extra bonus tracks. This one seems kind of thin to me...never heard it, but I am willing to give it a chance!

Does anyone know offhand if Night Of the Cookers will be one disk or two?
  13. Youre gonna kill us all in BMG Scrabble!
  14. funny, cuz I like all three. Lindas performance not withstanding.
  15. I call it soda, maybe sometimes I call it soda pop. Who knows, I rarely listen to myself talk!
  16. Just because something makes YOU vomit, it dosen't mean it sucks. I may just hit the FF button. Also I think the lyrics to MSH are sublime. I will stand my my statement until the day I no longer walk this earth. Feel inclined to agree or disagree, I don't really care. Abbey Road is the greatest album ever recorded in the history of mankind and recording studios!
  17. The Baetles never wrote ANY bad songs. Only substandard ones!
  18. One of our favorite films.... Dr. Oatman (Alan Arkin) - Yes, get out of town, drink some punch, visit with what's-her-name. Martin (Cusack) - Debby. Dr. Oatman - Yes, Debby. Don't kill anybody for a few days, see how it feels. Martin - OK, I'll give it a shot. Dr. Oatman- No, don't shoot anybody! Martin (upon finding that his boyhood home has become an Ultamart) - You can never go home again Oatman. But I guess you can shop there!
  19. You are very weird person!
  20. Who is the lonliest Monk?
  21. I was driving in my car and all of a sudden I feel like I am on a LSD trip and my car is wobbling...I stop and get out of the car and think...shit I have a flat!! I didn't see anything and shrugged it off and went home. When I got back it was all over the news. No, I don't feel anything less than a 6.0 these days. I dont know how far exactly I am from a fault line, but I live in CalEfornia so I figgure it's gotta be close!
  22. A 6.4 in LA? No Problem!!!
  23. What is really the problem there? I've listened to the Moncur Select tons of times and I do not have any problems with the way it sounds. Is it really a poor remastering job, or is this merely a (very) subjective opinion?
  24. You guys are cracking me up, thankfully I don't have the same problems, only my own guilt attached because I know I should be spending my $$ elsewhere. So now I am placing a moratorium on any further cd buying until the end of June, and Mosaic is NO exception. I don't trust Airborne period. Have had FAR too much trouble in the past with them, carelessly leaving the package on the outside steps of my apartment. From now on, I'll have them sent out to my parents house!!!
