Palmer, by the way, wrote the "detail" notes for the Mosaic booklet. Michael Cuscuna himself wrote the introductory essay. gregmo
  5. Still listening to his work as I read (and continue to enjoy) his autobiography
  6. That's a great Lester story! gregmo
  7. Listening through his work as I read his book. This is a typical Prestige blowing session:
  8. These two old LPs introduced me to Bop. Loved the old Vintage series! gregmo
  9. Delroy Lindo should have gotten an Oscar nom for that one. gregmo
  10. I don't know about that. A new Armstrong set, a Lou Donaldson set, a Black and White Label set, and a possible Lee Morgan Blue Note 60s set? Seems to me they're fairly lively. gregmo

  15. Oboe, absolutely. Played badly (and it is tough to play well) it makes finger nails on a blackboard sound soothing. gregmo
  16. Heard a track from this one on the radio and decided to listen to the whole thing. It had been far too long!
  17. I didn't know he was still with us. 101. Wow! "Underwear" is a classic. RIP. gregmo
  18. Sorry, just saw this. Got all three volumes of the Bob Cats recordings from Amazon and Ebay sellers. As for the LP--I've had it for far longer than I care to remember! Listening to volume 2 of the Complete Bob Cats now:
  19. Before I dropped my subscription to Down Beat (this year--just didn't have much I wanted to read anymore), I was perplexed that they no longer reviewed any Mosaic sets. I wondered if it was because the label had quit advertising its releases in the magazine. gregmo
  20. Listening to this old Swaggie LP, I liked it so much, I decided to order the group's 3 cds on Sounds of Yesteryear.
