  1. Well it doesn't have the extra tracks that appeared on the earlier releases- it's the official releases from back in the 50s and 60s......looking at "Close to You" it doesn't have "Flaw in My Flue"..... No need to buy unless you don't have any of them- I'm still keeping the ones that were issued in the late 80s-early 90s. When will Pal Joey, Can-Can and High Society be issued??
  2. It's refreshing reading posts from people in Europe and surrounding areas showing that not everyone on the board is from the US and Canada. Amazes me how the internet brings people from other countries and continents closer together!
  3. Boogaloo....no. Bugaloo- wasn't that a Sid and Marty Croft creation?? The Bugaloos??
  4. I treasure my signed copy of the Waiting for the Bugaloo Sisters......what does that title mean anyway?? I don't think you need to have a Paypal account to donate- I was reading various ways to add paypal to my HS reunion site and it states that someone doesn't have to join to send money- just a credit card. Smart move on PayPal's part. A few bucks from each person will add up fast!! Great site and I don't even want to know how much time you spend overseeing the forum.....
  5. Dan- it *really* is the 25th- I'm shocked to say even that!! I can't believe it went that fast!! We've creating a special checking account for the reunion and will link to it to Paypal. I suggested to have a mirror savings account so when the money arrives in the checking- electronically transfer it to the savings, so it's one step removed. Paypal has been very convenient for me and I believe it will be convenient for the attendees who live far away- to pay for their ticket. One lives in Belgium and one in London- they are planning on attending.
  6. I'm planning my 25th high school reunion and I'm considering using paypal on our class web site to allow people to pay for the reunion. We're scattered all over the US and this may make it easier than mailing a check. I've visited the web site paypalsucks.com and nopaypal.com and read the horror stories there. Personally I haven't had any issues with them, other than now charging the same cost for using your checking/savings account as a credit card. So: do you like them? Why, or why not?? Can I create a payment setup where someone doesn't have to create an account to pay with a credit card?
  7. Yesterday evening we received 3.48 inches of rain- from 4:30PM- 10:00 PM, with 3 inches coming in 2.25 hours. My gravel driveway now has a mini Grand Canyon in it and deep ravines down one side. I've had 5.06 inches for June.
  8. Congrats Johnny!! It's so tough to get that first home, but after that, it's easier since you build the equity and homes rarely go down in price. You'll learn some new skills because you realize quick that doing things takes money and someone else doing them takes even more money!! My wife and I are redoing our kitchen- after seeing the cost to re-tile the floor and hang cabinets- I think we'll try it ourselves. I never hung cabinets and never tiled a floor....... BTW- ours was built in 1907.......a certain charm living in an older home.
  9. We'll stay around- my son graduates from college on Saturday, On Sunday I'm taking my 4 year old girl canoeing and fishing, and Monday we'll take a ride up to the Blue Ridge Parkway and just lazy around the area, coming back to BBQ in the afternoon. Glad I'm not traveling. Dan- did you purchase a home warranty when you bought your place?
  10. At least the students will remember this one for a long time. I forget what mine was, let alone who gave it......20 years ago.....
  11. Now *this* is a commencement speech! http://web.wm.edu/news/index.php?id=3650
  12. He grew up in Mechanicsville, VA, about 10 miles NE of Richmond. Don't know much about him and don't know his music but the kids like him.
  13. Bobby Hackett Mosaic
  14. Boy- this thread really makes me count my blessings that I live on 12 acres and my nearest neighbor is 3/10 mile away from me....... In all my previous instances of rude neighbors, I've knocked on the door and spoke to the people in a nice way- most of the time we've come to an agreement of what to do and when. Dan- have you talked to the person who lives on the other side of this knucklehead, or someone who lives behind them? Perhaps other people have the same dilemma as you and there may be strength in numbers.
  15. Cute little girl........if the parents are ok, they have some explaining to do. She may be better off in a foster home and eventually with a family who loves her. Kids cannot choose their parents- unfortunately.....
  16. Wow Bill!! I'm glad you weren't seriously injured!!! It's a scary thing for sure.........they can do so much damage..... Here's my car:
  17. I like the older packaging, except for the booklets- they are hard to read. The new packaging looks like a user-friendly booklet which is a plus.
  18. Kevin- you were *very* clear.......I added my observations of what I see around here......it is a status symbol in addition to the tax benefits. I live in a rural part of VA. About 5 miles away is a small ranch house where a guy runs some sort of construction business- parked in front of the house is a canary yellow hummer, along with a few of work vehicles. I'm thinking "that thing is worth more than his house"........
  19. Kevin- excellent point about the Hummer and the tax break- I was going to say the same thing myself, except you said it more clearly...... Amazing to see so many Hummers on the road around here- haven't noticed any until a year or so ago. What the hell do people need that for?? It's another status symbol........how big is your house, what subdivision you live in, what swim club you belong to..... I commute 30 miles each way- glad it's country roads- and I get 38 mpg in my Toyota Corolla. On the other hand, driving my 1967 F-100 with a 352 V8 gets me 11 mpg......... It seems that the USA is becoming MORE reliant on the mideast and less self-sufficient, as evidence by the larger vehicles.
  20. We usually pay a little each year but we adopted our little girl in 2003 so we get a nice size refund this year- and 2004 as well.
  21. Refund for me
  22. The Capitol set is one of my favorites! After buying that one- the others don't look so expensive.....
  23. Thanks for all your well wishes! I felt bad for the deer- they are beautiful and Annie was worried about how "Bambi" was......quite precious actually to see the empathy in her..... I don't hunt, don't care to, and I can't kill anything. I'm not against hunting- just can't do it myself.
  24. Last night I'm driving home with my little girl on Rt. 6, a nice open country road with 2 lanes each way seperated by a grassy median. 4 deer run across the east bound lane and come into the westbound lane- it's dusk and I don't see them until they're in my lane......I'm doing 60 mph and I hit the second one right in the chest area with my right front of the car....the deer is now ahead of me going 60 mph, hits the road and starts skidding into the shoulder area- I pass it and all I see out of my rear mirror are legs going every which way........the other ones made it. I pull over and my little girl is scared but ok- I'm ok..... My car (1995 Mazda 626) is smashed all to heck on the right side- hood crumpled, radiator torn away from the mount, lights gone, quarter panel dented and twisted...engine slightly askewed....airbags didn't deploy thank goodness......the deer didn't really hit the bumper I guess.....could have been much worse with us being hit.......anyway the car was totalled since damages (~4,000) exceeded the worth of the car ($2500)...so now I have a check for $2000 (with deductable taken out) and no car. Bummer since it was running so well and I take good care of it and it was paid off 5 years ago.....was planning on keeping that for a long time. There is SO many deer in the area where I live and hunting does nothing to dwindle the numbers- more and more I hear about this happening and see the results on the roads- now I'm a statistic. Anyway- so has this happened to you??
  25. I have the CD and it great- the sound is tremendous..... I caught portions of the DVD on the local PBS station- it's good to see them play but I get bored watching them noodle around.......I'd rather listen to the Dead than watch them on TV.
