Boy- this thread really makes me count my blessings that I live on 12 acres and my nearest neighbor is 3/10 mile away from me....... In all my previous instances of rude neighbors, I've knocked on the door and spoke to the people in a nice way- most of the time we've come to an agreement of what to do and when. Dan- have you talked to the person who lives on the other side of this knucklehead, or someone who lives behind them? Perhaps other people have the same dilemma as you and there may be strength in numbers.

Help ID this young girl (serious post)
vajerzy replied to Chrome's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Cute little girl........if the parents are ok, they have some explaining to do. She may be better off in a foster home and eventually with a family who loves her. Kids cannot choose their parents- unfortunately..... -
Wow Bill!! I'm glad you weren't seriously injured!!! It's a scary thing for sure.........they can do so much damage..... Here's my car:

I like the older packaging, except for the booklets- they are hard to read. The new packaging looks like a user-friendly booklet which is a plus.

I got some gas, and I'm not letting it out.

Kevin- you were *very* clear.......I added my observations of what I see around here......it is a status symbol in addition to the tax benefits. I live in a rural part of VA. About 5 miles away is a small ranch house where a guy runs some sort of construction business- parked in front of the house is a canary yellow hummer, along with a few of work vehicles. I'm thinking "that thing is worth more than his house"........ -

Kevin- excellent point about the Hummer and the tax break- I was going to say the same thing myself, except you said it more clearly...... Amazing to see so many Hummers on the road around here- haven't noticed any until a year or so ago. What the hell do people need that for?? It's another status symbol........how big is your house, what subdivision you live in, what swim club you belong to..... I commute 30 miles each way- glad it's country roads- and I get 38 mpg in my Toyota Corolla. On the other hand, driving my 1967 F-100 with a 352 V8 gets me 11 mpg......... It seems that the USA is becoming MORE reliant on the mideast and less self-sufficient, as evidence by the larger vehicles. -
We usually pay a little each year but we adopted our little girl in 2003 so we get a nice size refund this year- and 2004 as well.

Refund for me

The Capitol set is one of my favorites! After buying that one- the others don't look so expensive.....

Thanks for all your well wishes! I felt bad for the deer- they are beautiful and Annie was worried about how "Bambi" was......quite precious actually to see the empathy in her..... I don't hunt, don't care to, and I can't kill anything. I'm not against hunting- just can't do it myself.

Last night I'm driving home with my little girl on Rt. 6, a nice open country road with 2 lanes each way seperated by a grassy median. 4 deer run across the east bound lane and come into the westbound lane- it's dusk and I don't see them until they're in my lane......I'm doing 60 mph and I hit the second one right in the chest area with my right front of the car....the deer is now ahead of me going 60 mph, hits the road and starts skidding into the shoulder area- I pass it and all I see out of my rear mirror are legs going every which way........the other ones made it. I pull over and my little girl is scared but ok- I'm ok..... My car (1995 Mazda 626) is smashed all to heck on the right side- hood crumpled, radiator torn away from the mount, lights gone, quarter panel dented and twisted...engine slightly askewed....airbags didn't deploy thank goodness......the deer didn't really hit the bumper I guess.....could have been much worse with us being hit.......anyway the car was totalled since damages (~4,000) exceeded the worth of the car ($2500)...so now I have a check for $2000 (with deductable taken out) and no car. Bummer since it was running so well and I take good care of it and it was paid off 5 years ago.....was planning on keeping that for a long time. There is SO many deer in the area where I live and hunting does nothing to dwindle the numbers- more and more I hear about this happening and see the results on the roads- now I'm a statistic. Anyway- so has this happened to you??

I have the CD and it great- the sound is tremendous..... I caught portions of the DVD on the local PBS station- it's good to see them play but I get bored watching them noodle around.......I'd rather listen to the Dead than watch them on TV.

Frank Sinatra. I have all the US issued CDs along with some unauthorized recordings......and always looking for more. Now I'm working on the Dick's Picks series by the Grateful Dead- I have about half so far. It's a disease, really........selling sets and letting go is invigorating in it's own way and the first step to recovery.

I'm pretty psyched that Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and University of Richmond made it in......two schools from Richmond, VA is pretty cool.....I tend to root for them mostly..... UNC better watch out for Air Force.......and Xavier will make some noise....

How about the Holman Russo? -
Anita O'Day Get the most expensive set with the gift certificate- plus I like the O'Day set!

Yeah it is a small world!! I moved here in 1993. I don't know what Soundhole is- a record store? I played baseball at Midlothian's HS field when I was playing in the Richmond 30+ adult baseball league. Their ballfield is real nice. If you haven't been back in a while the area is growing. Williamsburg during Christmas season is wonderful. Thanks for writing impossible!

Just saw this- sorry I didn't see it earlier.....I live in Powhatan about 1.5 hours away from Williamsburg....... As Dan mentioned, Jamestown is a cool place to go, especially since new excavations revealed the outline of the fort, previously thought to be in the James River. Yorktown is a nice place also- they re-did the visitor's center a few years ago- I haven't been there in 7 years or so. I like Williamsburg- my wife and I drive down there and park on the side-streets and walk around, looking at the people and houses. Since it's your first time there, I recommend going to the visitor's center, buying tickets to tour the interiors of the homes and taking in the whole experience. The James River plantations are located on Rt. 5 in Charles City County- these are a series of magnificent homes along the James River. My wife and I like visiting these and we take guests to these as time allows. Click or paste on this web site: http://www.jamesriverplantations.com/ If you're doing the plantations, try to stop at the Indian Fields Tavern http://www.indianfields.com/ a somewhat pricey dining experience (menu on-line)but I've never had a bad meal yet. A very nice setting. If you haven't pick up a copy of AAA's Virginia guide- it'll help you with everything. Busch Gardens is closed now. I hope you see this before you leave. Have a great time and I hope your eperiences in the "Old Dominion" are positive and favorable! Mike

Brandon- I agree with you- I really don't like the guy also........I happened to tune in one time when he was talking about the Japanese pitcher so I heard that part. I haven't liked him ever since he called Jim Everett (QB- LA Rams) Chrissy even when Everett told him to stop.....seeing Rome's face when Everett went after him was priceless- he looked so scared- and he should have been-

If you haven't found one yet, look on Ebay and sign up for carfax.com. I bought my 1967 F-100 pickup on Ebay and I know 4 people who bought their vehicles on Ebay. Everyone's happy with theirs, especially me! Good luck!

Yes- he pitched last year in the Indian's organization......he was good and probably will make the Tribe's roster......story I hear is when he was eligible for Japan's baseball draft, no one selected him (due to the fact the homosexuality is illegal in Japan), even though he was highly touted so he came over to the US where we has pitched well and no one has given it a concern. He said it was a mistake making the film.......as Jim Rome says, leaving your car lights on is a mistake, forgetting to lock the door is a mistake.....making a gay porn movie is not a mistake.........whatever- he seems contrite and his new teamates have accepted him so everything is fine.

Bud Selig is like Sargeant Schultz from Hogan's Heroes: I see nothing.....I hear nothing...... Your next commisioner of baseball.....
-
It's all about "who's juicin' baby!!" I know when I have my fantasy baseball draft in a few weeks- I'm staying away from the 'roidsters and going with "normal" players......Magglio Ordonez types, guys who are .290/30/100/10-20SBs.......good year for fantasy pitchers since HRs will be down....no one will break 50 HRs this year.....oh yeah, the bats are softer, yeah, that's the ticket!!! The only baseball I'll probably watch will be the games on ESPN classic when the players looked more like me.... Instead of a bunch of wrestlers from the WWF.

Jazzmoose- I think your home is real solid- I grew up in a home built in the 50s and it's very durable- I'm amazed at the quality of construction. Those homes built post WWII were made very well! Peter- I know your area- it's a great place! Remove the cars and replace them with carriages and be transported back in time......any gas lamps or other period furnishings on the street? I like Philadelphia alot- my Mom/Dad grew up there and still have an aunt and cousins in Havertown/Upper Darby. I'm trying to find out who built our home- it has a nice story with it- we're the 4th owners since 1907.

Thanks Jim!! My wife likes the blue but wants to eventually paint it a brick/colonial red and paint the area above the second floor a khaki color. Its wood shingled and very distinct and she wants it to stand out. You have 10 foot solid oak columns?? That's wonderful!! I like columns on a porch.....I would like to see an exterior shot of your house. Peter- Are you in Old City Philly, around Locust or Walnut?? Your house looks like the setting from Trading Places, where Dan Ackroyd lived. I think those homes are wonderful and I would love to see the interior of them. My wife and I like old homes and would like to see the interior of both of them- we think they're fascinating!!
