  1. No need to use the past tense. There are many ways around it, such as entry thru search engines (Google Advanced Search for instance) and with tabbed browsers it's not that inconvenient. The DMCA prevents me from suggesting this sort of behavior or going into more detail, but there are lots of helpful tips online about reading the NY Times that don't involve buying a Ford.
  2. I'm not sure if the threat of Will Ferrell being in this is still alive or not. John Waters wanted to cast Divine in a version.
  3. I have the first 3 and am impressed by the performance, music and sound quality, but this is only release I've heard so I know no other. SACD.net may be more helpful.
  4. It would pose an challenge for the series as you'd have to lower the face down to the belly to make the hair & cap fit on the shirt. I agree though, it's a major oversight. I do tip my cap at how they've recognized how popular Willie McGee and Jay Buhner are to Cards & M's fans.
  5. Ah, so they are straying from the 40th anniversary poster. For a while it was looking like the release schedule. As long as they don't wait for the 40th anniversary of the '80s albums I'm fine with them taking their time.
  6. Hair-itage shirts! Somehow it seems wrong beyond belief that there's no Oakland A's option. I mean at the very least there's Rollie*, right? I may just have to get me the mullet Mariner one, though many of these are pretty cool. It also has me leaning towards not shaving. *edit - Ah, I see Milwaukee gets him. I wonder if MLB t-shirts just sell better in Milwaukee than in Oakland?
  7. A heads up to Facebook users as if you "Like" the MLB site you can view a spring training game online each day. Today it's Braves vs. Phillies which might interest at least a couple of people here.
  8. She outlived her primary NY Times obituary author. Growing up I knew about the marriages, National Velvet and the blown budget Cleopatra. Sometime in my early 20s I saw Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? and was blown away by her performance. She had talent and as Dan says, it's kind of a shame all of the "celebrity stuff" is better known.
  9. Too bad the original wasn't also released in the same manner. The fact that the reissue is, apparently, unavailable in perpetuity is a blessing, That is genuinely awful music. Gorts, take care of this threadcrapper!
  10. So the Mariners likely won't win the West. But we do have the planet-destroying laser arm of Ichiro. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2grLJR7eaM&feature=player_embedded *Warning - Video may induce seizures, headaches and Max Headroom flashbacks.*
  11. Mono! Just kidding. It's been so long I've forgotten what was proposed, and as the rug has been pulled out from under so many times regarding a deluxe release at this point I'll just wait until it happens. If it ever does...
  12. Oh, and now they're saying May for a deluxe. Uh huh, sure...
  13. Probably most fans get the emails, but just in case King Crimson has put up an October 13, 1995 show double trio from Sendai on dgmlive.com with all proceeds going to the Japanese Red Cross Society. Pricing is the usual $12.95 FLAC/$9.95 mP3.
  14. For years I've been trying to convince women I'm a healthier option than a banana. Now I have proof right at the top of the first chart. Thanks!
  15. It's more formal with me. It says I have "no permission." I think Hattie from True Grit is now in charge.
  16. The collectorz group of computer programs have iPhone apps that require additional purchase. The app relies on the program for information so it isn't stand alone (I'm being redundant for emphasis purposes. ) It probably doesn't make sense in your case and certainly the cost is higher, but I thought I'd mention it as it is an option.
  17. Wishing you a Tyrone Washington train wreck of a birthday.
  18. A little bit of cheating w/ the Bowie title.
  19. I think that sentence is for people who walk into stores like Video Only and ask if they sell CD players. I confess I know little of Lunceford but it sounds like something that might be up my alley. Maybe even boulevard.
  20. Just recycle my wishes from up the page. Hope you have (or had? <----my 1st chance to use "blue boy" ) a great birthday!
  21. No kind of about it for me; I never got the Beach Boys. I can get into some of the surf scene stuff, but even there the Beach Boys always sounded like pure bubblegum to me. I had the best of Endless Summer as a teen in the late '70s and didn't play it much as I just wasn't that into surfing songs. A little later I picked up Pet Sounds and like Bev I was a little disappointed given the big build up. Fast forward into my 40s and I finally give Friends and the "failure" Smiley Smile a chance. Wow! If Smiley Smile is a failure give me more failures! Subtract 1 song from Friends about babies and it's excellent. I've since come to appreciate Pet Sounds more but for sheer enjoyment I play the other 2 more frequently (and I have since picked up other albums, but those 2 are my favorite.) I'm glad I didn't miss them.
  22. I always try to forget parts of his life. Otherwise I'd be tempted to eat nothing but meat & LSD figuring I'd live to be 78 as it's not like age & health issues killed him. (Yeah, I see he survived cancer.) It's a cliche but he most certainly was one of a kind.
  23. I haven't record shopped in Portland in a couple of years but it sounds like Crossroads Music. Someone made a vinyl list on Yelp! A Portland jazz vinyl map. That can be altered for other genres. What Vinyl Resting Place has in stock. Eugene actually has 3 vinyl (& CD) shops. House Of Records, Skip's CD World and uh, that place across from the downtown post office all have a jazz section. Regarding the above I can't verify in person what is in business. Hopefully a Portlander will comment rather than just us southern valley folk.
  24. And I'll likely settle on the 2 CD flavor (unless I'm feeling really good about myself when it's released) despite my grumbling above. I'll try to remember your last point as that too often can happen.
