I'm in need of legal advice and I'm really unsure where to turn, I'm new to the area and don't really have any experience with lawyers. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

do guys know about EXTERNAL HARD DRIVES?
Shawn replied to chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez's topic in Audio Talk
I have this same drive and my XP computer really doesn't like it. I'm constantly getting this "device write failed" error message, when it happens the drive stops responding and the only way to get it working again is to un-install the device and re-install. I have yet to find any fixes that work for this problem. It's evidently something that happens with USB 2.0 (so the problem isn't the drive itself). It's very random, sometimes it will work for weeks without the error...then there are other days where I'm re-installing the drive 10 times in a day. -
My guess is that it would impact new recordings more than reissues (not nearly the upfront cost involved). I'd be willing to venture that reissues are likely to become digital only over the next couple years, that sure would get rid of alot of the cost.

Both the Cowboys & Seahawks should be the official "poster children" of the NFC. Teams brimming with talent...but so GODDAMN schizophrenic you can never guess what you'll get from week to week. Either of these teams SHOULD be good enough to make it to the big game, but when you're this inconsistent you need a fortune teller to figure out whether the dominant or clueless club will walk out onto the field. You ain't gotta worry about that shit in the AFC. The disparity between the two conferences is mind blowing. P.S. - Mike Holmgren. I've got nothing but the highest respect for the man, he's a sure-fire hall of famer, a great teacher and he's got one hell of a legacy to leave behind...but he needs to RETIRE. Seattle's woes are not talent related...they seem to be all mental errors...only the coach can carry the blame for that.

Some of my favorites: Wait 'till Tomorrow (from ABAS) has to be one of the hippest tunes ever. You Got Me Floatin' (from ABAS) is another classic that should be more popular than it is. Gypsy Eyes (EL) is easily one of his best songs. Any of the instrumentals (Midnight, Pali Gap, Villanova Junction, etc) particularly the version of Axis Bold As Love from the Experience Hendrix box. Favorite album: Band Of Gypsys - no competition, this is the album that firmly turned me into a Hendrix fanatic.

Man, if I found the Mark Of The Beast anywhere on my body I'd celebrate and take out a full page ad in the Washington Post. I was always jealous of Damien in the Omen movies...Dammit, I WANT to have 666 on my forehead!

Why do you say that? The Seahawks are 7-1 at home in Qwest field this season and 34-7 since 2002. That's a pretty impressive home winning record, it's one of the loudest stadiums in the league (it's basically 2 band shells facing each other) and because of that the amount of false starts by visiting teams is very high (I remember watching the Giants get penalized 4 times on the same drive a few years ago). Should be an interesting game.

I'm sure this band has probably been mentioned here before and I've missed it. Anyway, just got their album Folk Tales recently and have been listening to it quite a bit. I really have no clue what "category" this would fall into, but to me it's like an acoustic version of Mahavishnu with elements of folk, classical and King Crimson thrown into a blender. Like I said, my knowledge of this type of music isn't my strongest suit, but I know what I like when I hear it. From a technical perspective these guys are pretty amazing. Link to sound samples here

The Redskins/Seahawks game should be a good one. The Skins are on a roll at the moment...and Seattle probably has the best home field advantage in the country...so I'm hoping for a real slug fest.

Which Mosaic Are You Enjoying Right Now?
Shawn replied to Soulstation1's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Onzy Matthews - Disc One. Thanks Lon! of particular note; the session with Dupree Bolton, Earl Anderza & Hadley Caliman (fuck yeah). -
Happy New Year, gang! I've got to admit that personally 2007 mostly sucked, but the last quarter of the year has seen numerous signs of progress and some actual happiness (which has been a rarity for about 4 years now). So I'm going into 2008 feeling a little re energized and something close to confident.

concerts we are ashamed to admit we attended

I've had a few "winners" in my day, starting at about 4 years old (if that counts) Dr Hook & The Medicine Show Sha Na Na Loverboy (opening act) Stryper (!) Ted Nugent (opening act) -
Wow, what a night of football! The amount of records broken in this game is staggering, but the most important aspect to me was how entertaining it was. We had two football teams playing a meaningless game (playoff wise), but they CAME TO PLAY. In the end, no team has been able to play the Patriots for a full 60 minutes all year. The simulcast was also a classy move on the NFL's part. I was 2 years old when the '72 Dolphins went undefeated, I give them all the respect in the world. But, what a treat to see a team do it in this free agency crazy sport. I'm really glad I got a chance to see this.

My favorite is probably Tea For One from Presence, what a tour de force by Page on that tune. In My Time Of Dying is also EPIC, in a good way. There's not much Zep that I don't like...

But that's the selling point, fans of bands like The Police & Genesis don't really have alot of contemporary options if that's the type of music they love. Bands from the 70's & 80's will continue to sell for years to come.

That's my new outlook as well. Initially it was forced upon me by financial problems, but now I'm comfortable with not freaking out about OOP discs, limited editions, boxed sets, etc. Life's too short...I'd rather enjoy what I have than stress about what I don't.

Are you around 40??? Do you remember this TV Show???
Shawn replied to BERIGAN's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
YES! If I remember correctly it was a Saturday morning series. The series that I'd actually like to see again was called "Cliffhanger(s)", it was an hour show on Saturday nights, there were 3 different stories so you'd get new chapters of each every week. I would be willing to bet that it was a summer replacement series because I don't think it was around very long. I liked it because one of the stories was about a vampire. -
I think it was in the Collector's Choice series as mine has the white inlay tray, which looks like that first issue of Conns from 1994. ed: I meant tray, not card. You're correct, that's the version I have. I loved that damn series, Borders used to carry them all for $9.99. That was how I first heard so many of my favorite sessions (Introducing Johnny Griffin, Chamber's Music, Easy Living, One Step Beyond, etc).

Lock plays some beautiful stuff on here.

Don't forget those Parlan dates with Papa Lou, including The Time Is Right & Midnight Sun.

I only got "Afro-Jaws" myself about a week ago and have only listened to it once, so far. But it immediately struck me as an amazing album I wish I'd been listening to for forty years! MG The trumpet "duel" on the title track is SMOKIN'!
