are your cars 'young or old'?
Shawn replied to alocispepraluger102's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I'm driving around in a '98 Oldsmobile Cutlass (same car as the Chevy Malibu)...was this my car of choice? No. I needed a car right away and it was a deal at $2000 below book value. I've had it for about 4 years now, it just turned over 180,000 miles...I've had some suspension issues but the engine and everything else has been rock solid. My car of choice would most likely be foreign made, but I've been impressed with the punishment this little car has taken and still kept on truckin'. -
Let's talk football for a change of pace. I think this Colts/Pats game is going to be very interesting and should be a good measure of these two teams. Let's face it, both teams are great but don't exactly play in the strongest divisions, so they aren't getting first class competition every week. This is the biggest test of the year for both teams. Now the real question of the season; is there a team in the NFC that can lay some serious competition against these guys? I'm not so sure about that. At the moment Dallas (with Green Bay close behind) seem to be in control of the situation and they didn't measure up all that well against the Pats. I'm getting bored with the AFC Championship game being the most entertaining of the year...the SuperBowl is beginning to feel like an afterthought.

Because Landry & Schramm were Nazis? Hmmm...come to think of it, Landry kinda looked like an SS Officer....I wonder if he had to hide his tendency to goosestep in the locker room?

What's your spending limit for a single CD?

These days I won't pay more than about $17 for a single disc. -
Damn, this is a painful loss! I had the pleasure of seeing Marchel numerous times while living in the DFW area. He was a beautiful player and a genuinely nice man. R.I.P.

Loved the ending of MNF last night...first play of overtime Favre throws an 82 yard bomb for a touchdown...it's those type of moments that keep me watching football.

No kidding!!! I think I'll pay full price for that somewhere so his family will get some of the proceeds...

I won't be impressed until I hear The MC5 in a commercial. Kick Out The Jams...MOTHERFUCKER! -
My Mother lives in Ocean Springs...thankfully she won't have to drive over that bridge very often.

I've lived in so many friggin' places, I'd just like to find somewhere that I don't want to move away from.

Which will of course cool quickly and be replaced by a fresher hot potato. We're all about the hot potato's these days, it's better than actually taking a stand on anything or trying to better the world we live in. We just sit around and become "outraged"...and then we see what's on Pay Per View. -
She was extremely talented and much more diverse than people gave her credit for. One of my favorite roles is the nanny in The Innocents. She could also be incredibly sexy when the role called for it (Dream Wife, From Here To Eternity) .

My car was broken into when I lived in Dallas...they ended up doing about $900 damage to windows and the dash. They tried to steal the stereo and couldn't even get the stupid thing out! I think that made it worse...all that damage and the only thing they actually stole was a pair of $12.00 sunglasses. The cops "investigated", dusted for prints and then I got a letter about 2 months later that no prints were found and the case had been closed. I'm glad they didn't get anything of real value or do major damage.

Just watched this for the first time and was surprised to see that it was a Herrmann score. And it's a GREAT score at that! The script is about a composer so the music is essential to the vibe...plus it's also "discordant notes" that makes the guy go psycho and kill people which is also handled beautifully.

What Chuck said! There is a great vibe to this record, it feels organic, fluid, it has some breathing room in the arrangements...and man has Bobby Broom become a bad MF over the years.

That Pats ARE the best team in football right now. BUT...they do play in the weakest division in the AFC (similar to Seattle in the NFC West) so are pretty much guaranteed a division win before the season even starts. The main problem in the NFL right now is that the AFC is by far the better conference so there's not much competition when they play against each other.

My God has Seattle IMPLODED completely as a team....

I never had to wear a tie to work until recently...been resisting wearing one my entire life actually. But...now I find that I actually dig the way I look. Plus I'm noticing that I get mucho compliments from the female population on "how nice I look"...so I think I'm with ties for the duration. -
Actually, the album that best fits together with those All Day, All Night...sessions is this one. I have a compilation CD I made called "24 Blue Hours" with the following tracks. 1. All Morning Long 2. All Day Long 3. All Night Long 4. Empty Street (from After Hours)

Just bought one of my friends the King Crimson - 21st Century Guide To King Crimson Vol. 1 (4 CD set) and he's really been blown away by it. I was very impressed by the remastering which is INCREDIBLE, I never knew the debut album could sound that good. There are some "edits" of longer tracks but it's still a nice starter set with a very cool booklet and a fine collection of live material spanning the 69-74 era.

and if you've got budgetary problems like I have...you can get a pretty decent sounding set for under $100 at Best Buy. I just recently picked up a pair for my bedroom stereo system and was pleasantly surprised by how good they sound for the money. Insignia Bookshelf Speakers

To answer the question posed by the thread...yes, everyone is crazy. Couldn't we be spending some of this money on education or something semi-worthwhile? Nah, I forgot, we're in the land of the paranoid and the home of the politically correct.

That's why they play all 4 quarters, Cowboys kicking MAJOR ass the entire second half. It's 27-10 right now and the Boys are on the 1 yard line.
