One of the few Herbie records that is conspicuously absent from my collection. Guess I'll have to pick this up as it sounds like it would be right up my alley. DAMN YOU AL!

John Patton's "Soul Connection" to be released on CD
Shawn replied to Soul Stream's topic in Artists & Recordings
This is an EXCELLENT session, glad to see it's finally going to see the light of day on CD. Wonder if there's any bonus material? -
I have a "business" account with Paypal, I get a small fee charged to me when people pay via credit card, but it's nominal. What I enjoy is the Paypal debit card which works just like an ATM card, I often use this when making purchases online. That way I'm not spreading my CC information all over the place. It's also handy because you can transfer money back and forth into your checking account. I'm a happy paypal camper.

I thought the Fontana CD reissue has the orginal album (with reverb) together at the end of the CD?

Is Rights of Swing considered a good album? I've only listened to it a couple times but remember digging it.

"There are 54 people in the U.S. named Shawn Dudley" I wonder if I can trade my credit score with one of them? -
Noj, I was rootin' for your guys to win that one. I heard whistles before the kick so I assume the TO was called in time, but I felt sorry for Janikowski nonetheless. What a MF mindf*ck! Definititely seemed like a home field gift for Shanahan. Janikowski should have made it the second time too. Still, a 52-yarder, that's no gimme. I don't think the defense should be given that sort of demand with time outs. Either call it early enough to stop the snap of the ball, or the refs should ignore a defensive team in that situation. I know I've seen them ignore coaches in that situation in the past, or maybe they just ignore the Raiders. But hey, it was in Denver so Shanahan gets whatever his little elvish heart desires and the ball gets spotted an extra 12 inches every time the home team runs the ball. I hate the NFL. What Shanahan did was completely within the rules. A few years ago they gave coaches the right to call timeouts from the sideline, what they usually do is call the ref over and let them know that they'll be calling a timeout "at the last second" prior to the snap. As long as they gave the ref the heads up that the timeout is coming, they are granted the timeout. What Shanahan did was the new millennium version of "icing the kicker"...and in this case it worked. I still think it's kind of shitty, but there is no cheating involved.

The Patriots look even more frightening than they have been over the past 5 years...I think only Indy has a shot against them. Can't believe Seattle blew that game against the Cards....

Excellent album...it took awhile to grow on me but it's now one of my favorites.

I don't think you can compare the release of Cream reunion material to Led Zeppelin. I think if Zep got back together for an album it would sell like MAD. (whether it would be any good or not is anybody's guess). You still can pretty much guarantee that you'll hear a Zeppelin song at least once every 2 hours on classic rock radio...and their catalog sales are better than many bands new release sales. Cream was a great band, but they didn't come anywhere near the global success that Zeppelin had.

Adam Schefter: NFL determined Patriots have violated rules NFL.com Wire Reports NEW YORK -- After looking into claims a New England Patriots employee was videotaping signals by Jets coaches on New York's sideline during the season opener, the NFL has determined that the Patriots have violated rules governing the usage of video tape on sidelines, reports the NFL Network's Adam Schefter. Schefter also reports that the league plans on summoning New England coach Bill Belichick to its offices in New York this week to discuss the matter, and that possible punishment being considered by the NFL include fines, loss of draft picks and suspensions. The investigation was first reported by ESPN.com, which said that NFL security confiscated a video camera and tape from a Patriots employee during New England's 38-14 victory Sunday. The employee was accused of aiming his camera at the Jets' defensive coaches, who were sending signals out to the players, sources told the Web site. "The rule is that no video recording devices of any kind are permitted to be in use in the coaches' booth, on the field, or in the locker room during the game," the league said in a statement from spokesman Greg Aiello. "Clubs have specifically been reminded in the past that the videotaping of an opponent's offensive or defensive signals on the sidelines is prohibited. "We are looking into whether the Patriots violated this rule." The story was first reported on the Web site of Jets Confidential, which said the Jets chief of security alerted NFL security about the issue during the game. "With anything along those lines, those are all league-related matters, and anything that deals with an issue like this or anything on a team-by-team basis, those all go to the league," coach Eric Mangini said in his news conference Monday. When asked if the Jets had in fact notified the league, he said: "It's all a league matter." Patriots spokesman Stacey James declined comment. New England cornerback Ellis Hobbs said he was unaware of the controversy, and unwilling to believe his team had cheated. "We put too many hours in as individuals and a team to have to go out and cheat," he said. "If it's true, obviously, we're in the wrong. But I'm standing behind my team, my coaches. I don't think we do that stuff." Copyright 2007 by The Associated Press

If the Patriots are in the habit of doing this...wouldn't Mangini already be aware of these practices? Of course my next question would be why would the Pats need to do this since they out-class almost every other team in the NFL, they can beat pretty much anybody without the subterfuge.

50 worst cars of all-time
Shawn replied to alocispepraluger102's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
1973 VW Beetle. Of course it was already 13 years old when I bought it...but in the less than two years I owned it I swear I replaced almost every part on that car. Carb, 3 (!) starters, transmission, exhaust system, oil sender, had to rewire the dash after all the wires fused themselves together into one large chunk, distributor, alternator, etc, etc, etc.
