I think these would hit the spot nicely...Soul Samba's rhythms w/Burrell's guitar...Salt Song's overall uplifting vibe...and Street Of Dreams has a nice "cool" atmosphere to it.

Now, if we're talking an average of 20-50 listeners at night to a jazz or other "under the radar" style of music...then those stations can still grow to 4 times their current size and still fall into the 500 per year payment.
In fact, that's maybe the ticket. Get a coalition going amongst internet radio, set up sites but cap the transmission to not allow more than minimum to stay under the $500 cap. That's how you starve the fuckers...don't let them collect their big fat fees...nickel and dime them to death. Of course this might be fantasy...but I'd give it a shot if I was running an internet radio station.
in addition...
There is no earthly reason why internet radio should pay a cent more than regular on air stations. It's just plain fucking OBSCENE! The record labels have NEVER had a clue about what just MIGHT be good for them.
Who is to blame for the AWFUL piano sound on the Cedar Walton Prestige dates from the late sixties? (Spectrum, Cedar, Electric Boogaloo Song, etc). Not to mention albums like Person's Blue Odyssey (again, Cedar on piano).
Breakthrough is an amazing record, made so primarily by Mobley's intense contributions. The version of Summertime (where Hank uses the Thinking Of Home suite as an introduction) is worth the price alone.
I think the Rhodes is limited to 1 or 2 songs.
Another vote for Cornbread, one of my favorite Morgan sessions. The Rajah has a very nice tune selection...and certainly you can't really fault the lineup...but it's just not "quite" there. Not bad, just routine.
Of course you're talking to someone whose favorite Morgan album is Charisma....
I hardly ever drink any more (maybe twice a year) but this past Friday was one of those times...I'm definitely not as young as I used to be. Somehow I managed to drink an entire 5th of Bacardi and was still able to walk around and function. But the next morning...whew...felt like I had been drinking battery acid all night.
I would say that I'd wait another six months before I drink again...but with my birthday coming up in 3 weeks I doubt I can hold myself to that.
If I remember correctly the studio shots were of Monk doing "Ugly Beauty" which ended up on Underground. The clip with Count Basie staring Monk down at the piano is from The Sound Of Jazz(?) I believe.
This is an unfairly ignored twofer, really tasty, swingin' stuff. The track Higgins Holler is worth the price of admission by itself. Plus there's a beautiful trio reading of Days Of Wine And Roses.
I find Cedar's writing/arranging to be very distinctive. The guy is taste personified.
This is a good 32Jazz disc recorded live at Boomers.
How's the Maybeck Recital CD?
