  1. The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath - H.P. Lovecraft
  2. The very pretty, well-endowed girl wearing shorts and a tube top, walking her Dalmatian past my window earlier. The sound of Scott "Wino" Weinrich's guitar. Feeling tired but very satisfied from a busy week of work.
  3. Glad you got it, let me borrow the DVD set.
  4. Butthole Surfers - Hairway To Steven
  5. I'm a Mose Allison junkie, love the Prestige, Columbia and early Atlantic albums. I've also had the pleasure of seeing him live on a couple occasions and he put on a fantastic show. I'll have to go back and compare some Herbie Nichols, that's an interesting thought. His piano playing always reminded me of a hipper (and slightly stoned) variation of Dave Brubeck.
  6. I'm guessing because a starter is usually something you can replace yourself...while a timing belt is a major ordeal.
  7. Start calling around to local salvage yards and try to get the parts you need. The starter should be fairly easy to locate.
  8. Soulstation, what kind of car do you have?
  9. David Bowie - China Girl Yeah, I know, but I haven't heard it in years and it brought back good memories.
  10. The "signing in everytime" thing comes and goes. Do you use AVG perhaps? AVG thinks Firefox is a virus (at least on my machine), I think that's what keeps wiping out the cookies. I had a bunch of crashing problems for awhile, but after re-installing the software and creating a new profile, it's been pretty stable. I tried using Opera for awhile but it kept acting weird with some of the message boards I frequent, I got irritated with it and went back to using firefox.
  11. I have temp work tomorrow and Tuesday, first time I've worked in almost 3 weeks. But nothing else on the horizon yet.
  12. I used to work with AMG in a previous job, they don't provide that information in their feeds (plus so much of their information is incomplete or incorrect anyway).
  13. I haven't run across anything with personnel information yet. About the best you can hope for is year of release, song titles, etc. I've been using this software for about 5 years now: http://www.fnprg.com/catraxx/
  14. H.P. Lovecraft - The Shadow Over Innsmouth
  15. The debut album is quite interesting, kind of sounds like Dylan singing for The Rolling Stones...there's even a Doug Sahm cover tune! Their own sound started to emerge on the second album Mad Shadows, that's the one with Thunderbuck Ram on it (which the band evidently called "blunderfuck ram" because they had to do so many takes of it in the studio before getting it right). That album ends with a song called "When My Mind's Gone", which is a completely improvised one-take song that Hunter made up on the spot...and is quite harrowing. I'm planning on listening to the other albums this morning...they had a flair for song titles: "Death May Be Your Santa Claus" and "Wheel Of The Quivering Meat Conception" are quite memorable! Bowie showed up for album #5, got them signed to a different label, changed their image and wrote "All The Young Dudes" for them. Then when that album outsold his own current release...he had them dropped. LOL. Ralphs jumped ship for Bad Company soon after.
  16. That's actually where I made the mistake, All The Young Dudes was later...their earlier albums are much better (IMHO). It's nice to hear Mick Ralphs pre-Bad Company.
  17. Mott The Hoople - the first four albums. Where have I been?
  18. Happens all the time. I was involved in a corporate takeover of an online music store, which was then re-branded with a new name...within a year it was sold to Napster. 3 different owners in less than 2 years.
  19. Well, I haven't been able to afford emusic for awhile now anyway. I was primarily using them to check out new artists that I hadn't heard yet...but I've found recently that lala.com and last.fm provide the same opportunity to me without having to shell out any money for it. I've kind of reached "collection overload" on the classic jazz stuff, I feel fairly happy with what I've got. I'm more interested in exploring different kinds of music and new artists at this point. I'm sure the pendulum will swing back to wanting reissues again one day, but there's so many new things I'm interested in hearing that I can live without it for now.
  20. I love this album...at some point I need to listen to it in the proper "mental state".
  21. I'd still like to go see Robin Trower on June 4th at La Zona Rosa...but $35 a ticket is too steep for my non-existent budget. Oh well, life goes on.
  22. I knew they'd find a way to get one of the old characters in there somehow, that's typical in Star Trek history. The old Spock/new Spock thing worked better in this film than the awful insertion of old Kirk into the Generations film. It could easily have been left out (and I wish it had been)...but at least it didn't derail the entire second act the way Generations did. I'd like to see this in IMAX, that would be fun.
  23. Over the past few weeks: CSI: seasons 7,8 & 9
  24. I think everyone is taking this a little too seriously. It's STAR TREK for goodness sake, it's not supposed to be "great science"...it's just supposed to be escapist entertainment with good characters. It succeeds on both levels.
  25. I'm just glad someone listened to it. I'm trying to keep the "trickery" to a minimum. On this track I used the end of the Lonnie Liston Smith version (reversed) for the intro and then I reversed part of Pharoah's solo from the version on Thembi. I also purposely didn't "line up" the arrangement, so it sounds like Pharoah is commenting on what Barron is playing.
