  1. The last package I got from Chuck was here in Caledonia in 3 days!!!
  2. John Patton - Got a Good thing going BN NY stereo best £3 I ever spent, good sound on these pressings, certainly good VFM
  3. Happy Birthday Guy !!!
  4. Very interesting to compare that material with the Mike Taylor Trio of similar vintage. There were some definite common influences I think. I'll need to check that out. Only have the Mike Taylor CD from the Impressed series. Johansson has a pretty diverse style base from highly melodic playing on the above to some quite funky playing on other sessions such as Den korta fristen. Then again he can be quite abstract. Not sure I've really got the measure of him.
  5. Jan Johansson Jazz på svenska Megafon - mono and stereo versions, some really lovely melodies. The excellent new ACT CD of JJ with the NDR band stimulated me to dig these out,
  6. Received my copy from amazon.uk a few days ago. Well worth the wait. Thank you JLH
  7. the nearest to Scotland will be Newcastle but I can't make it down, next time come to Scotland
  8. At a Halloween gig a few years ago Ethan Iverson played a very spooky sounding "Autumn Leaves", worked very well
  9. Popped into local Shelter, £20 got the following Dave Brubeck- Jazz goes to college- Columbia 6 eye- very clean Fairweather-Brown All Stars -Doctor McJazz- Lansdowne Jazz series ,Columbia UK -stereo The Beatles "White Album" - 1st pressing stereo No 0458868- complete with inserts. Solid VG+ condition Oliver Nelson - The Blues and the abstract... Impulse UK from 1976- very quiet pressing Louis Stewart - Out on his own- Livia (Eire 1977) sleeve tatty but vinyl NM Turns out I had the Brubeck as UK Phillips but the 6 eye sounds better. The White Album is my third copy, already have a first edition Mono, a 1980s stereo re-press, _ I think that's enough copies - not even my fav Beatles album ( that would be Revolver or Rubber Soul)
  10. Too right, Don Byas' 40s output is fascinating, spread across a wide variety of labels and for various leaders.
  11. Mosaic have produced quite a number of sets whose contents are PD here in Europe. To my knowledge the only one that was allegedly duplicated was the Bunny Berigan. So there's hope Pre-ordered Hawk.
  12. 33 covers I've ordered inner sleeves etc from these guys and service was fine
  13. These look great, he must have had good access to the stage to get these. I can't seem to enlarge those you've linked to. Some great shots.
  14. walk this way please
  15. I've been collecting for years and honestly never saw it until the CD came out. Probably heresy to some people but, to my ears, the CD sounds better than the LP. Not to mention that the CD has an extra track. I can live with a CD sounding better than an LP. The Nessa releases always sound good. In this case, the CD must be pretty darn good, since the LP has really fine sound. Wonder how Chuck would rate them? I have this on LP and CD. The LP always sounded very good but the CD is better to my ears, which must be down to Chuck's remix. You get a nice extra track with the CD too.
  16. I loved that sketch..or how about The Tale of two Titties by Charles Dikkens ( with two Ks)

    Amps

Sugden A21a , class A integrated amp , made in Yorkshire, it's what I use and love. Runs hot so needs lots of space around it .
  18. app store , search for I.P board
  19. this is a great set , speaking as someone who really only has a passing interest in Hendrix. It helps that sound quality is so good.
  20. Errrr.... I've been using the IP board app for months, works very well
  21. I've never bought any jazz as a download, I'll be looking for a physical format of some sort for some time be it shellac, vinyl or silvered disc.
  22. How do you like this set? I know a lot of people rank it near the top of Mosaics. I missed out on this and I can't justify paying OOP prices on this... One day though!!! It's a good set, I'm not heavily into vocal jazz and this or a Chris Connor CD often does the trick. So many songs on it that there's always one to fit your mood.
  23. Shit! I ordered it today. Part 2 of Sweet Earth Flying has never been released - it was not on the original LP, although presumably it was recorded. The original liner notes state part 2 was recorded, but not included on the LP. I wonder if the tape still exists ... an electron microscope is needed to read the liners on the current issue.
