  1. Many happy returns Just received "Three for Shepp" disc as recommended in these parts a few weeks ago. Very , very nice session , thanks.
  2. I think I'm right in saying that the Goldring is tweaked Rega P2 , not sure what the tweaks are though. I'd guess they probably be pretty comparable turntables.
  3. I went this way about 18 months ago. I had about 150 LPs an wanted a reasonable TT. Bought a Rega P3 , DPA phono stage and Rega Elyss cartridge, cork/paper mat ( forget the name). I now have 400 LPs......enough said...
  4. T.S. Monk's comments regarding the mastering of the tapes makes me wonder how the CD will compare with the LP issue.
  5. There is no overlap with the excellent Uptown CD. The remaining sides on the set are from Savoy, Dial, Fantasy and Black Lion. It's what Mosaic used to be great at pulling together material from various labels to give an excellent overview of a neglected artist. The Chu Berry set will hopefully do much the same for him.
  6. any of the other Harkit discs recommended ?
  7. Congratulations! Any idea what went wrong? Did the package give any clues? ← I'm certain if must have come surface as it's not been via Mount Pleasant (sp?) sorting office which is always stamped on airmailed items I've ever received. Surface parcels have no markings.
  8. Happy birthday !!!
  9. My Anita set arrived !!!! 6 weeks by airmail to the UK- personal worst Any rate Mosaic will have at least one Anita set left as they'd reserved another copy for me. I won't be needing it now so unless it's already spoken for interested parties should hop to it.
  10. there will be a whole I've not heard but of those I know and care about Andrew Hill- the balance of the Mosaic box not so far eleased on single CDs Tyrone Washington- Natural Essence- not bothered by the "train wreck2 material Bobby H- Happening /Oblique and any thing else of interest form late 60s that hasn't been out on CD er............ that's it , enough of Art, Horace, Hank and Lee to last a life time
  11. I think you chose the wrong venue in Edinburgh. Henry's jazz cellar has a no smoking and no noise policy as it describes itself as " a listening venue". People taking above muttered asides or whispers my be asked to leave (this happens only occasionally). Even when packed in the festival it's atmosphere remains electric. Saw Fredrik Nordstrom, David Binney, Trio AAB and others during the recent jazz festival and the atmosphere was superb.
  12. It comes with a free spider ← I've always fancied an open top Alfa
  13. Likewise first time here , only known 2 packages get lost in 7 years and I'm doubtful that those were actually ever sent. I have no doubt that Mosaic dispatched this to me but wonder if it's gone surface in stead of airmail in which case it would be another 4 weeks or more before the outer marker for surface delivery is reached. What a nuisance. I believe that a copy is reserved for me if it fails to turn up. The question is just how long I'm prepared to wait before creating a fuss etc.
  14. well I'm still waiting on mine, ordered over 5 weeks ago and sent by airmail. This was precisely what I'd hoped to avoid , the set going OOP whilst mine was in transit. Mosaic are now apologetic and have set in motion a "postal investigation", who knows, but certainly this is without doubt the most annoying order I've placed. I'm sure it'll work out in the end ( he said hopefully) !!!
  15. well it's not me, I'd guess I've got around 70-80 sides , mainly CD but plenty of LPs too, I probably have more EKE than any other single artist, Monk and Miles would be next.
  16. still waiting for Anita !!
  17. Billy Kyle - Finishing a date- Collectors Choice, nice touch in his trio sides from 1939
  18. My point is that the parcel could have arrived in the U.K. within, say, 10 days, which is well within the expected airmail time frame, and be held up by Customs since then, without them notifying you (that's how it usually works in the Netherlands). That way Mosaic would have supplied the airmail shipping you ordered (instead of going the economy route), though due to circumstances beyond their control you would not get what you ordered and expected, i.e. speedy delivery. ← Luckily customs here have never held anything up more than 24 hours as far as I can tell from the multiple date stamps that parcels get along the way.
  19. my concern is only that I paid $30 for a service labelled as Airmail ( although they do describe delivery as taking 3-5 week- a point I missed when I ordered). 3-5 weeks isn't the normal delivery time for airmail from the US. I presume Mosaic have gone a cheaper route- perhaps Economy as suggested above although still describing it as Airmail. The lesson to me though is to read the small print and use airbourne express next time !!!
  20. $30 for ultra slow delivery, as I said not good, billed by Mosaic as being "airmail" and not "economy". This speed of delivery is what I'm used to getting from surface shipments ( which they no longer offer on orders over $100)- that would have cost around $18 !!! I guess I'll relax if and when I actually get it in my hands but none the less it's not what I'd expect from Mosaic. ← Are you saying the delayed delivery is Mosaic's fault? How exactly? Once the parcel is out of their hands, there's nothing they can do about it. It could be the carrier's fault, or the parcel could be held up by Customs (which, in the Netherlands, could take weeks). ← no, what I'm saying, is that airmail to UK should not take 3-5 weeks, it's clearly not airmail that they using as my experience shows that real airmail takes 10 days max for items to get here from the US. For what it is it's over priced and arguably misleadingly billed ( although I'd conceed that they do clearly state it'll take 3- 5 weeks- I noticed that a bit late !!!) ← And what if Customs are holding it? You can hardly blame that on Mosaic... ← agreed but that's not my point

  23. ← new airmail service to UK is quoted as taking 3-5 weeks. That is really poor considering the price I am not happy.
  24. What is going on ordered O 'Day over three weeks ago and it's still not here ( sent by airmail !!!!!)
