  1. Oops, that's what I get for relying on that careless crew of incompetents who do the itunes database. Car Buddha
  2. Wait....was that wesbed? Making a rare appearance? Hi Wes! After years of trying every coffee machine known to man and continually being disappointed with the results I've finally found the means to make a good cup of coffee. I use the ceramic version of one of these on a thermal carafe. Works great, stays hot. I also use a French press sometimes. I get my beans from Costco- my favorite is a brand called Don Julio- two pounds for ten bucks. Freshly ground beans & Brita filtered water. A little more effort but totally worth it. I like a little half & half in mine. The only tea I drink is unsweetened ice tea, with lemon. People down here love sweet tea, I can't stand it.
  3. Great photos! Thanks for posting the link!
  4. Happy Birthday to you and Miles!
  5. I always think of that fourth bar as B dim 7, which of course consists of the same notes as the F dim 7 given here - but it's funtionally more like the G7(b9) Free suggests. Yes, B dim 7 is a good choice- it creates that nice chromatic bass line. I think of those diminished passing chords you see in rhythm changes as subs for dominant flat nine chords. (first four bars)Bb Bdim Cmin C#dim Dmin G7 Cmin F7 The B dim. functions as a G7(b9) w/o the root. The C# dim. functions as an A7(b9) w/o the root. The main reason is the creation of a nice chromatic bass line.
  6. Terrible devastation, and it only took about ten minutes. I heard that wreckage from the hospital was found 60 miles away. And it looks like they're going to get more bad weather today. Thoughts & prayers.
  7. Both the A sections and bridge are very common chord sequences- they exist in many tunes, although off the top of my head I can't think of a tune that has that exact progression. I would suggest that the chord in the fourth bar of each "A" section be replaced with a G7(b9). The F diminished chord notated is part of the G7(b9) but I don't believe F is the root. It functions as a dominant to the C minor chord that follows.
  8. I believe it's "for all intents and purposes" but I think your version still gets the idea across.
  9. Sounds like fun. Wish could have been there! Hope you're enjoying your trip and had a good b'day. .
  10. I hadn't seen this one before. Please move this to the sexiest album covers thread.
  11. LOTS of new titles just added. Much of the Blue Note catalog.
  12. Really? My Amazon deliveries (and there are a lot of them) are almost always UPS. The items I order from private sellers often come via USPS, however.
  13. Happy Birthday, Larry! Not a bad day to have a b'day- Woody Herman, Betty Carter, Eddie Bert and Billy Cobham were also born on this day.
  14. 3CD? I thought it was 2 CDs...or was there an issue of this with a 3rd disc that I missed? I have the 2CD set too. Is there really a third disc?
  15. I've bought stuff from several of the vendors in the Skymall catalog. The catalog always makes a good timekiller on flights. I really love this guy.
  16. The Acker Bilk Story, starring Robert De Niro.
  17. I've seen him a couple times recently with the Clayton/Hamilton big band. Section mate Clay Jenkins usually assists him out to his seat- I'm sure people think "Wow, that guy is really old- wonder if he can still play?". Then the rest of the band comes out and they start "I Be Serious 'Bout Dem Blues" which has a short intro then Snooky stands up and WAILS on a plunger solo. People go absolutely nuts. It sets a perfect tone for the concert.
  18. The saxes left to right: Joe Henderson, Jerry Dodgion, Jerome Richardson, Eddie Daniels, Pepper Adams. Other than Snooky on lead I'm not sure about the other trumpets. My guesses would include Danny Moore, Al Porcino....possibly Richard Williams? Jimmy Knepper and Eddie Bert are in the trombone section- I'm not sure about the other two. Benny Powell maybe? Of course, Mel, Roland Hanna and Richard Davis are in the rhythm section.
  19. Just heard he passed. An amazing career from Jimmy Lunceford to Basie to Lionel Hampton to Thad & Mel to the Tonight Show band to the Clayton/Hamilton band with many stops in between. A master of the plunger and a great lead player. The man knew how to swing. I haven't found an obit yet; if someone finds one please add a link.
  20. Damn! OKC/MEM in a battle! About to start the third OT!
  21. Let's take "PellePlut" out back and beat the shit outta him.
  22. Yes, about this size.
