  1. Hope it was a happy one, Tom!
  2. The first names that immediately came to mind were those two. I just wonder if Clifford had been around longer how he might have gotten into some new territory. I mean, he was hanging out with Eric Dolphy!
  3. The stack of records in the case in the lower left side of the photo, third one from the left is Money Jungle. Slight scratch on track 2.
  4. OK, did we really have to see THAT?
  5. Kenny G is EVERYWHERE. As are bedbugs.
  6. Happy Birthday, Glenn!
  7. This is actually a positive Paypal story. Today I got an email from "Paypal" saying that there was a pending payment to CompUSA for $200 and that if I thought the charge was not legitimate I should follow the link to "my Paypal account" which included me signing in w/my password. I was suspicious and called Paypal- they said it was indeed a fraudulent email. The email looked very legitimate but I'm always suspicious when asked for passwords or other personal info. I never sign on to accounts via a provided link, I always open a new window and use my own link to check on my accounts. This crap sure makes one paranoid about trusting any emails. I just assume everything is fraudulent.
  8. Most musicians I know (myself included) ALWAYS take their instruments with them and NEVER leave them in a vehicle. A lesson learned the hard way for her, unfortunately.
  9. That one reminded me of this, which also works in this thread. Apologies if it's already been posted.
  10. On the topic of anecdotes, is there an Ammons bio?
  11. Looks great! I'll definitely be picking that up. Thanks for the heads-up!
  12. Banjos terrify me. How about clowns playing the banjo?
  13. I'm thinking he's looking to unload some CDs too, conn, and wants to know where to take 'em.
  14. Weird Nightmare
  15. RIP. In addition to the previously mentioned "Some Like It Hot" (an all-time favorite) and "The Defiant Ones", I thought he gave a great performance in "The Boston Strangler".
  16. For my part, I apologize. A bit slow on the uptake, but I think I've figured out what's going on.
  17. Song title, thread title... I know—that being all, it's a stretch. Imagine if we posted matching song titles for every thread title. What's the big deal here? The "non sequitur thread tangent" has been a frequent presence here for as long as I can remember, and IMO is often quite clever and entertaining- why has it suddenly become an issue? Are we getting all serious around here now? My respects to Jim Heseldsen for his achievements, may he rest in piece. But the way he went is so ironic that it's funny. You just know the comics are having a heyday with this.
  18. Navy Blue Trane!
  19. I'd partake but I already have the titles of interest. Good luck with your sale!
  20. I thought it was a very interesting piece. I like the way he integrated the orchestral players with the jazz players. Also some nice orchestration, lots of different colors. I thought all the soloists played great (ditto on Sherman Irby!) and the piece had a lot of nice grooves- it didn't feel clunky considering all the players involved. The NY Phil trombonist Joe Alessi is a monster! I really like the way Wynton used the harmon mutes (with stems in) in the brass to create some eerie vocal effects. I started the broadcast not knowing what to expect and have to say I was impressed.
