  1. Horace Silver wrote a great tune over Another You changes called Split Kick- it's on the Blakey @ Birdland recording w/Clifford & Lou. Also, John Scofield wrote a tune over those changes, too- called Not You Again. Just FYI, You're a Weaver of Dreams is another tune with a similar chord progression.
  2. I've always liked this one too.
  3. Does anyone watch "Hoarders"? That is one scary-ass show!
  4. I was excellent at these in college.
  5. Is he bringing his trio or playing w/students?

  10. I got this one too- I never use the provided log-in link on these things. I logged onto my account and saw there were no problems or unauthorized charges, then I emailed Paypal and they confirmed that this was a phishing email. Pretty clever one I must say. I tend to be fairly paranoid about "business" emails I receive, and it usually pays off.
  11. Happy Birthday, Paul!
  12. "The researchers hooked thermometers to the scrotums of 29 young men who were balancing a laptop on their knees." Now THAT'S what I call a PARTY!
  13. Sad news. I remember her 70s movies very well, mostly because that's when I was working as a projectionist (my high school job). Unmarried Woman, Semi-Tough, Starting Over, Gable & Lombard (remember that one?) and Silver Streak, which I still like to watch. RIP.
  14. at least u can laugh about it! Thankfully, I can laugh about a lot of things these days, but that isn't one of them quite yet.......
  15. Sammy Spear was a trumpet player who became a conductor, and IIRC he was leading the orchestra but not playing for the theme "Melancholy Serenade".
  16. The weirdest thing about this thread is reading my posts from 2003 when I was still *happily* married and talking about my *wife*. THAT sure seems like a million years ago. Guess I got tattooed pretty good!
  17. I have that same calendar and heartily agree with you!
  18. I also had this on cassette ages ago. I realized I didn't have it on CD, so I just ordered a copy. It is an excellent session.
