My attempt to go cold turkey lasted about as long as it took me to see a reference here for a Percy France live concert from 1980. Had no idea he had led a date, and so of course I had to track it down. Where's that damn shoulder-shrug smilie?

Do you enjoy tenor player Scott Hamilton? He's used Bunch quite a bit, including his last on Concord, Heavy Juice which is very nice (with even younger throwback Harry Allen. If you like Scott, I'd check AMG for the albums they did together.

That would be a screwed up thing to do. But that was never my point. MY point is, that is buyers are judged on whether they communicate well and pay promptly. That done, you *owe* them positive feedback. If they are dumb-asses who make excuses to leave negative feedback, then respond to it. If their negative feedback is ridiculous, other potential buyers will see it as such. Let me give you a hypothetical (not so hypothetical because its how I got my first bit of negative feedback): You sell an album; you don't take paypal and want a check or money order. Money order is mailed within two days of the auction ending. Its received less than a week after the auction ended. You take TWO weeks to ship the LP. I post negative feedback because the whole idea of sending a money order is to get the merchandise quickly. There's no excuse for taking that long, and I don't care how much business you do. What do you do? Do you post tit-for-tat negative feedback, when I have done nothing but alert the ebay community to pathetic customer service? Remember, there's nothing to be "made good" on here. You think its fine to accept a money order and not ship the item for two weeks. I think its total bullshit, and post negative feedback. What do you do?

Do they say they hated the CD? Or do they make up lies about your service as a seller? Seems to me, if someone posts negative feedback like that, no one is going to give a shit about their negative statement because no one in their right mind regards it as legitimate. yeah, you get a (-1) in your "score", but so what? The fact remains that negative feedback can be responded to. That's all you need to do.

Since my mom wouldn't touch a computer, I bought a couple of antiques for her this holiday season and remarked to her that I had not yet received feedback from the sellers, despite the fact that I was exceptionally prompt in communicating with and paying them. Then, when I heard from my mother that the items were received and she was happy with them, I placed feedback. Immediately (as in, within 24 hours) I received positive feedback in return. This is BULLSHIT! It is obvious to me that those sellers were witholding feedback pending a positive report from me, when I had completed the terms of the transaction with great speed and efficiency. They are doing this for one reason only: Reserving the right to leave tit-for-tat negative feedback, had I been moved to leave negative feedback myself. IT IS CRAP and I hate sellers who do it. The fact is, my feedback rating would be unblemished if not for tit-for-tat negatives I got from sellers who had no right or reason to make the claims that they did. I understand that sellers want to be sure that buyers are satisfied, but be honest: If someone communicated speedily and paid immediately, what right do you have to leave negative feedback? Granted, a buyer who is not pleased should contact the seller first, as ebay tells you, but for me these are the issues: For sellers: Did the buyer communicate promptly? Did he pay promptly? If that is the case, and you believe in the products you sold, then you ought to leave positive feedback immediately. For buyers: Did the seller communicate quickly? Was his shipping price fair? Did he ship promptly? Was the item as described? Would you buy from him again? If the answers are positive, than positive feeedback should be given. period. And as far as witholding feedback goes pending positive feedback: its BULLSHIT and is totally wrong. The fact is, ebay gives you the opportunity to respond to negative feedback. Earned or not earned, that is the only way to respond to negative comments-by telling your side of the story. NOT in placing retaliatory negative feedback.

You lucky son of a gun. What hotel are you at? I ask, because last night, me, my wife and my best friend were at the B.B. King Blues Fest, with Dr. John, Shenekah Copeland and the Muddy Waters Tribute Band (that was Muddy's rhythm section who were awesome, a guitarist from the Fabulous Thunderbirds and some harp player who played with Waters for several years. Musically, I actually liked their set the best, until, of course, B.B. came out. Other than the New Year's Eve four years ago when I proposed, this was the greatest New Year's eve of my entire life, hands down. B.B. was tremendous, really up and having a lot of fun, jivin with the crowd and still putting on a show with Lucille. And the man worked: Their set started at 10:45, B.B. was out shortly after 11, and he refused to stop until 12:30, with Dr. John sitting in on 2 of the last three tunes. I LOVE B.B. King. And Dr. John's a pretty cool dude, too. Kind of sad to realize B.B. gets around in a wheelchair these days. I'm guessing he saves most of his walking on and off stages.

Apparently, but I also heard Buster Olney on ESPN saying that the Yanks weren't quite so committed to going all the way to get Beltran, which makes no sense if you're a Yankee fan but sounds fine to me. Think of it: Start the year with a 36 year old centerfielder whose range has shrunk for several years, or get younger and lock in a great player? Apparently its better to commit 32 million to a 41 year old pitcher. And you know what? One pitcher, even a great one, doesn't make a champion. Mussina isn't getting any younger and certainly didn't pitch very well last year. Then you've got Brown, who they don't even want anymore, and Pavano and Wright. Frankly, I think the Red Sox starting staff is deeper.

And a full WEEK later, my copy made it the additional 10 miles from Boynton Beach to Delray Beach.

Jim Snidero is very good. He has two CDs out on Fantasy (haven't heard them yet) and I highly recommend his work on Doubletime.
