Well, the interview is done and it was quite interesting. Bob's a highly opinionated guy and quite willing to share stories and info. In fact, he corrected several misconceptions, some of which were presented here or in the AAJ thread. However, I can't maintain my "exclusive" by sharing all the details immediately. I just got back from my interview with Bob Weinstock. The answer is ....... None of the above, because Gitler is wrong. The date was always intended to be a quartet, not a quintet.

True Blue and Seventh Avenue Stroll are both highly recommended. The former features Kenny Kirkland, Tain Watts, Branford and Nicholas Payton. The latter just has rhtyhm accompaniment, Tommy Flanagan or Stephen Scott. The Marksman was his first CD, a bit more conservative but some pretty good blues playing on it, with Marcus Roberts also getting plenty of solo space.

King Fleming's Argo and Cadet LPs are well worth tracking down; my preference overall is for the Cadet LP, Weary Traveler.

The good Doctor is right on everything except for Kenny Washington. This is a great CD.

I agree with John. People should make an affirmative offer of personal info rather than having it spread around. Plus, participation isn't always ongoing, people take a break from one and rejoin with later tests. Plus, if you're e-mailing to say you want to participate, how much more time does it take to bang out your mailing address?

I'll keep that one in mind. Also thinking of a little cross-sauceing though I'm not sure if it will work or not. What about the sauce that goes on Sesame Noodles, which starts with peanut butter but adds sesame oil, garlic, soy sauce. Or maybe I should play it safe and just make Sesame Noodles as a side dish!

I just realized we're a bit less than a month away from the first anniversary of the death of the Blue Note BB and the birth of the glorious Organissimo BB! From the earliest registration dates I can see that March 6 was the day of death/resurrection and I think we need to celebrate the first birthday right. How about if everyone logs on at a particular time, like 12:00 PM Eastern time on March 6 (that way its 9 AM on the west coast and not too late in Europe) and we try to set the new record for most members online at the same time?
