  1. I don’t think they’ve done any digital comps in near 10 years or more. Playlists have probably made them obsolete at this point.
  2. They should try to expand these covers to take up more of the shirt and not just use the square box pic literally. Some good designs could come out of these Reid Miles covers…esp something like Sam Rivers’ Dimensions & Extensions
  3. Great read. Streaming platforms give BN the ability to tie in legacy albums and artists to new ones and I think that’s why sublabels don’t and/or won’t exist. Their monthly playlists do just this, as do their (and Impluse as well) artist-selected playlists. Was seems to be taking a big tent approach and while I haven’t looked at BNs bottom line among other Universal products, it’s probably doing decent enough.
  4. Great doc @Late. Thanks for sharing.
  5. Who We Are: A Chronicle of Racism in America Watched last night on Netflix. Highly recommended. https://thewhoweareproject.org/
  6. Anyone give the Night Flight subscription a go yet?
  7. Great thread. I’m familiar with basically nothing listed. Just listened to the Gunter Hampel Heartplants album (thanks @mjazzg) and now on the Smoke record
  8. Listening to these, that Kenny Cox might be my favorite of the bunch.
  9. Ha, listening now. This is that r&b funk flavor I mentioned. That “Tony” track - c’mon! Not quite smooth bc it’s got edges but there’s no focus on changes like I heard in that Myrick record.
  10. Not all together wrong on that. Outside of that CJQ album I’d say overall less jazz, more r&b funk esp if compared to Strata East. Also have that 70s spiritual jazz flavor in there. I’ve found a lot to enjoy from these. I think they track close to that Ranelin/Tribe vibe.

    BFT#220

Track 1 & 11 sound like different versions of the same tune. Track 1 - Bobby Hutcherson quartet? Track 2 Marc Johnson? 9 is In a Sentimental Mood but unsure on who Great set overall!

    Frank Zappa

Damn, they sold it all lock stock and barrel. Bet they made a fortune
  13. Found it streaming. Discogs says recorded in ‘92 in NYC with George & Ed Schuller and Jack Wilkins making up the rhythm section. Laporta plays both tenor and clarinet.
  14. Y’all and your pussy pics…
  15. WP Charles Tolliver's Paper Man, NP Ted Curson's Blue Piccolo. This Curson album is from '76 with McBee, Jim McNeely and Jim McCall (Curson & the 3 Mc's?). First time I've heard this and I like it. On the Whynot label and first released in Japan. No US release until '82 on India Navigation.
  16. Listened to the Kenny Cox album today. Once I got settled in it was really enjoyable. Flows nicely with Hammond’s Reflection in the Sea of Nurnen
  17. Strangely phallic but not political. Moss was good in Shining Girls on Apple TV. Weird series but enjoyable.
  18. Thanks for this post. Never listened to most artists listed. So now playing: Recorded in '02, released in '05 with Brian Walsh, Michael Ibarra, Rich West & Noah Phillips. In line with the Carter/Bradford discussion above, track 2 "You Say" is parenthetically dedicated to Bradford.
  19. Never listened to Magic Windows before, so streaming now. Nice morning vibes
  20. Good, glad to hear he’s ok!
  21. Wonder what happened to @rostasi?
  22. Who distributes these products to US markets and do individual retailers such as DG have the ability or leverage to tell their distributors not to include certain labels? If retailers have that ability but subsequently don’t restrict them, are the margins on these products so advantageous that retailers would have a hard time not offering them?
  23. Right on That B&G track really stays with me after listening to it.
  24. I don’t have these but for t shirts I don’t want to shrink I just let them hang dry after the wash.
