  1. No, but it's not hard to find high quality soundboards if you look in the right places. I prefer the Buffalo show overall from the next night
  2. It turned out to be 6 players and not an orchestra and it wasn't solely Kind of Blue either but a kind of best of 1959 tunes which was pleasant. Tom Williams on trumpet was his usual excellent self but seemed to be having issues with his trumpet. Can't remember all the players-Peter King on bass, someone named Guitterez on tenor, a prof from Howard on alto and a good piano player and drummer. Best tune for me was Mingus' fables of faubus. Glad I went.
  3. I saw her with Hank Jones and the Dizzy Gillespie big bands separately but one concert a couple of years ago. Again, Jones and the band were great, she was merely ok. Nice looking lady though.
  4. hope someone can record the Getz show and post it somewhere for download.
  5. last minute but think I will try to get over there today. Street address is 2455 6th St NW with metered parking available.
  6. Hargrove is a serious player. Gambarini's vocals have never done that much for me either recorded or in person.
  7. the DVD that comes with the box set is good as well. Musically, I like the live set better as the 3rd disc on the box kinds drags.
  8. how is the sound on this one? some of DPs were pretty flat soundwise.
  9. Single layer-Taiyo Yuden premium. $30 per 100 discs shipped is a good price Dual layer-Verbatim- generally $1.25 per disc is a good price shipped I think. IMHO, duals have a higher failure rate but I've had no coasters with Verbatim. I don't think TY makes a dual layer product.
  10. Just picked up Dark Secrets from a board member and I will be tracking down more of his cds-Bill Heid is a real artist. Another mention must go to JoeyD's dad Papa D who has a number of excellent cds.
  11. Europe to the rescue!
  12. That's odd, unless I'm very much mistaken it's quite common over this side of the pond, I'll have a look... Thanks!!
  13. This is one of our favorite cds and my copy has disappeared. It is surprisingly OOP and thus very expensive to replace. Does anyone have one to sell (remastered version) or an extra copy? Thanks
  14. Sad news. One of my favorite percussionists and a pioneer of the double bass drum.
  15. please take your business elsewhere.
  16. I just got a cheap m3 player and aready have the free Winamp. Do I need to pay for the pro version to be able to download music from my PC to the player?
  17. I was watching a documentary on Buddy Rich last night and really enjoyed the footage with Artie Shaw; what's available from this period?
  18. Keep an eye on Audiogon dot com and HT online forums to get an idea for pricing. I bought my sub used and wouldn't hesitate to do it again; however I was able to see and listen to it before purchasing. Also keep in mind subs are heavy so arranging a local pickup will save you $$ and also may get you a good deal as sellers typically don't like dealing with shipping these beasts.
  19. this link might prove helpful http://www.tweakcityaudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11
  20. Sad news indeed. I saw him in college in the 70s. He still had it then and put on a great show.
  21. google showed this http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...iendid=64636803
  22. finally listened to these excellent recordings! Thanks guys
  23. Bill Heid plays a weekly gig at a club in DC. Of course, the one time I went he canceled even though I was told on the phone he would play . I will have to give it another attempt.
