  1. and with Daryl Hall online at lfdh.com
  2. generally agree re Clapton except for his blues tour in 94-some great music there and Clapton totally on; however his singing Autumn Leaves does not fill me with joy. Another spin for Mercer in his grave after multiple revolutions with Rod's butchering of the GAS.
  3. I'm kinda irked at Mosaic. Last week I ordered the Mercer set for my father. The first question I asked was; "Do you have any upcoming promotions?" The guy said no so I went ahead. Then the free shipping email arrives which would have saved me $7, not a biggie but still...I've ordered numerous sets from them so a good customer.
  4. Word I heard is that Bob got dosed at a CT furthur show last week and was basically incoherent on stage. Phil remarked that he should be careful what he drank backstage. Look Out!
  5. Indeed a very fine recording! Copy arrived yesterday-top tier Heath!
  6. Sorry to read this but not surprised. I'm glad I got to see Organissimo once in DC. Good luck to the three of you and I look forward to the reunion tour
  7. it's way overdue for remastering but there are issues that have been discussed here before.
  8. excellent book. lots of great stories!
  9. I bought the "Essential Artie Shaw" as it was $13 and will give me an idea on where to go. I guess the boxset Shaw oversaw might be good bit it's OOP and thus quite expensive.
  10. Donation via Paypal sent!
  11. Will be playing some Morgan today!
  12. enjoyable but I hoped everyone watched the extras-we both thought they could have made a much better film if some of those scenes had been used instead. One of them is eye popping in an adult way!
  13. What do you mean? The Gramercy Five recording? It must have been reissued a zillion times. http://www.amazon.com/Artie-Shaw-Complete-Gramercy-Sessions/dp/B000002WBD Never mind the sick prices charged THERE. Even disregarding the dopwnload alternative, this is potential special offer bin fare. the Summit Ridge set appears to be a collection of his gramercy work in the 40s and 50s
  14. after reading the excellent Nolan bio of Shaw, this looks interesting but probably hard to find. anyone have this release?
  15. just finished the Nolan bio and it's excellent. I need to add more Shaw to my collection.
  16. well worth the $7 shipped I paid especially the lighthouse cuts. The MLK suite is a little out there for moi and I'd rather they cut that than Morgan. Minor complaints. Thanks for the headsup.
  17. my copy is on its way!
  18. Birchmere is a nice club. I'll have to see if I can make it.
  19. I'll take Broadway Blues and All Day Long-Groove Holmes Thanks
  20. cd and dvd in da house. looking forward to listening/watching
  21. I've been very happy with my Jolida-might be able to find a nused one on audiogon. I swapped out the stock tubes which proved beneficial sound wise.
  22. I like that set a lot even if it jumps all over the place chronologically. The box set is good as well and comes with a smokin' DVD of a 1978? show
