  1. Stan Getz; Prestige twofer.
  2. Reaquainted my self with the MJQ's Concorde this week. The title track and Ralph's New Blues stand out for me.
  3. I've had a Rega Planar 3 for more than ten years. I had the motor upgrade about five years ago along with a new drive belt. I'm using a Rega Elys cartridge. I'm very happy with it's performance and reliability.

    Billy Hayes

Thanks Jack, thought as much but your confirmation is appreciated.
  5. Freddie Hubbard; Hot Horn on Everest.
  6. I agree, it's really impossible to choose, there's so much great stuff. Although I wouldn't call it a favourite track I've always found If I Love Again with the Dave Lambert Singers remarkable in an odd sort of way.

    Billy Hayes

I've just been playing Freddie Hubbard's Hot Horn on Everest. It's a 1974 date with Junior Cook. Apparently more from this date came out on Phoenix. This seems to be Hayes' only recording. Do we know anything about Hayes or is it a mistake in the notes (could be, Cedar Watton is the pianist) or am I'm listening to a different Billy or Hayes.
  8. Thanks for posting.
  9. John Tchicai, Cadentia Nova Danica; UK Polydor
  10. The Ballad Of Pearly Sue by Susannah McCorkle. I'm not a big vocal lover but this a nice little known Gerry Mulligan composition
  11. Probably the best jazz book I've read.
  12. Tonight it's Bobby Wellins
  13. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAN!!
  14. Good health Prince Lasha. Love those Enjas particularly.
  15. Stanley Cowell; Blues For The Viet Cong. UK Polydor.
  16. Twight Dreams, that's the one with 'Thriller'. It's only lp length but go for it you wont be disappointed. Great band, but then Lester never let me down. Great live, great music and good fun at the same time.
  17. Art Blakey; Les Liaisons Dangereuses 1960. (Fontana France) Forgot how good this is.
  18. Jazzville Vol 1, Side 1 (Jazz Modes); Dawn, Fresh Sound issue.
  19. Nothing in Lord or at Mike Fitzgerald's discography site as far as I can see.
  20. Just received. My anticipation was slightly tempered as I'd heard the music thanks to Gary (still missed from the board). But the box and it's contents restored the wow factor. A real bargain.
  21. No. As long as my eqipment sounds reasonable I'm happy. I do need some new and better speakers (I had to sell the old decent ones as they didn't fit the new home environment) but so far I've not found any that suit our current domestic surroundings.
  22. Dennis Gonzalez John Purcell 6tet; Anthem Suite (Jim Sangrey's in there somewhere)
  23. Have a great day Bob, and many happy returns.
  24. Celebrated it belatedly with Silver's Blue (Epic). Lovely stuff.

    Frank Lowe

I'd recommend Billy Bang's 'Vietnam the Aftermath'. Lowe plays on three tracks only but it's a great record by any standards,
