  1. First Impressions was in my collection for a while. Didn't find it to be a keeper. I've never come across any of the other discs mentioned above.
  2. Sorry about that MG, no snow here.
  3. I can remember the hits. Sure ages me!

    SOUL STATION

I wish I'd got back in 61. I had to wait for a Japanese issue in the 70s. Great album.
  5. I like the ECMs too, thoughtful but interesting, but they are not that represenative. I'm not sure I'd enjoy some of her other things that much.
  6. I used to have a Jazz Book Club edition. I recall that it wasn't that interesting.
  7. Yeah, you coulda hit on one of the ones you missed. Too old for hitting on much, just the odd cd.
  8. Best I could do was 11/16. Could have been worse I suppose.
  9. Thanks for that, I'd noticed my Japanese lp had an extra track that didn't seem to be on the cd. Mystery solved. Moral, should listen more closely!
  10. Wish I could be there, BassDrumBone are one of my favourite groups. I saw them in London in their early days, great then, great now. If you can't see them live get their cds, last one was on Clean Feed.
  11. Sad news, I always enjoyed his writings.

    AOTW

    I'm happy with that.
  13. The Cookbooks do it for me too.
  14. I don't know about this one but I like the one on Mainstream.

    AOTW

Many thanks to couw to keeping the master list going for so long. Because of other commitments he'll no longer be able to keep it up to date. I'll do my best to keep it going to the same high standard. There will a new new thread starting shortly with AOTW from Jan 2007.
  16. It's a nice extra-musical touch.
  17. Excellent news, thanks for posting. Nice band too.
  18. Right after the BN board shut down. Much better off here.
  19. ONe of Peterson's programmes was introduced with the line "JAZZ WITH ATTITUDE". Blue Note was featured heavily.
  20. Awful. 70-80mph winds. Just beginning to moderate now.
  21. Thanks for the heads up on this one. I don't have very much of this so I'll probably indulge myself. The new slim packaging is nice by the way.

    Roy Babbington

I'm delighted to read the above Red.
  23. Happy Birthday Andy, have a great day.
  24. The Esquire pressings were excellent. Heavyweight vinyl that seemed never to wear out and to be pretty much imperviuos to scrathes. Much of the Esquire cover art was different to the original Prestige issues.

    Shorty Rogers

Collectables issued one by the Giants some time back. Two classic Atlantic albums, 'Martians Come Back' and 'Way Up There' on one cd. Essential Rogers small groups, highly recommended.
