I think part of the problem is having laws which are too set in stone, as opposed to having flexible laws in which judgement can be made upon the characters of the individuals involved. It becomes a routine where people can fall victim to the trends of the preceding cases, as opposed to case-sensitive, individually-based trials.

To me, the difference between the Heat and the Suns/Mavs is the Heat have a dominant inside presence, whereas the Suns/Mavs have dominant shooters. I'll take Shaq's interior defense and close-proximity scoring in the playoffs over shooters/fast breakers any day.

We've got the same three teams who have the best chance at winning the title as last year. The Pistons, Spurs, and maybe the Heat. Whichever team is playing the best ball by the time the playoffs roll around will take it. The Mavs and Suns are pretenders, they won't get it done when push comes to shove. I think the Pistons have looked the most like the best team this year, followed by the Spurs. The way Shaq looks lately, I have to think the Heat have a shot--but I have no confidence in their roster with losers like Williams and Walker on there. I'm betting on a Pistons/Spurs final with the Pistons avenging last year's loss and bringing the title back to Detroit.

I read threads about topics I have no interest in. Like "Idol" or "24." I've never watched an episode. I read threads reviewing albums I'll probably not hear for years if ever. I read the three people thread which is often listing people I've never heard of. I read the curling thread.

I think this is misleading. Rappers who weren't gangsters before the 90s kept rapping the same way into the next decade. Hip hop may have splintered into different styles, but it didn't go gangster in its entirety. It retained the lighthearted, party-focus.
