  1. The Can -- Soundtracks -- (Liberty GER orig)
  2. I've only had the original and chocolate glazed flavors, not these others. Look great!
  3. The Mayhem cover is iconic and fucked (yes, it is an actual suicide). The Norwegian black metal scene has a fair amount to answer for, though some of the music is really unique and fascinating.
  4. yeah, I was holding out for an "original" but I think that's become pointless in this day and age!
  5. Amazing. Thanks for this! I have almost all the records you mention so far (still looking for the trio on Karim) and agree with your assessments.
  6. yep, two on Qwest in fact. There was slated to be a third but it didn't come to pass.
  7. ah cool, I haven't read the bio -- ought to check it out. My to-read pile is embarrassing.
  8. seems like a good place to post this -- interviewed Collier right before his sudden & untimely passing: http://www.paristransatlantic.com/magazine/interviews/collier.html really nice man and a wonderful artist.
  9. I'll have to dig out Afro-Disiac; don't remember a ton of gg soloing but it's a really nice record nonetheless.
  10. Alan Michael (Alan Braufman) would be another example.
  11. yeah, definitely would dig it. However, Japan isn't shipping to the US so I'll likely be waiting until that's restored.
  12. Noah Howard -- Live at the Village Vanguard -- (Freedom/Intercord)
  13. Benny Golson -- Gettin' With It -- (New Jazz, non-DG early pressing)
  14. oh yeah, that too.
  15. I was just talking with a musician who was there when Mengelberg sat in; fascinating. He was of course a trickster and probably felt like doing some subversion. Too bad it wasn't recorded as I'd love to hear it.
  16. It's amazing that the forums have been going for as long as they have. When people ask me how I know so much about jazz (and really I don't know that much), I can say that most of it comes from here. I was on the BNBB first and migrated like many folks. Still an unbelievable resource, way more than other forms of social media. I got rid of my FB and Twitter; still keep at it with instagram but nothing can touch the big-O.
  17. amazing show. I loved SCTV reruns back in the day.
  18. on the cusp of 44.
  19. Terrible news. I had hoped to connect with him on a project this fall but it didn't come together. What a legacy.
  20. "Your Mother, If Freud's Wife Became" LOL
